Whitesupraboy2
Im currently on easynews but am limited to 20Gb after, getting an xbox 360 these backup games are bit big and I hit that limit quickly. Im after a newsgroup with a good web access front to it as thats what I use on easynews, Basically you can search and then using the par viewer, see all the rar files, then group them into one download in a zip file, so you dont have to download each individual file seperatly also unlimited access. I'd like some recommendations. thanks
JamesG
Get a free trial of Newsleecher. It's got a nice interface, and it pars and unrars automatically.
Whitesupraboy2
does it have files quickly and avaliable easily. what are the speeds like?
JamesG
It sounds like you have an all-in-one service with easy news providing both newsgroup access, and a program (or web interface) to download files. Newsleecher is just a standalone program. You can use any newsgroup provider you like. Edited to say - I use giganews as my newsgroup provider. I get unlimited downloads for about 13 quid per month. Whitesupraboy2
your exactly right I dont need a stand alone program. I just downloaded it but Im finding it hard to use I have been able to search but cant work out how to download thought it might be a right click and then off leech menu, as its not a full program im wondering if thats why its not working. JamesG
Yeah that's right. I don't think you have the ability to download things from Super Search unless you buy the full version. You effectively pay a subscription to use Super Search, but it's well worth it. You can still subscribe to groups, download the headers and choose which articles to download. Whitesupraboy2
So that free program Id still have to pay to use the good search feature!?! Thats bit of a con isnt it.
JamesG
It's not a free program, it's a free trial.

But the xbox 360 is 7Gig a game as its a dual layer DVD, im now eating bandwidth like crazy! Just wish they did unlimited
SBDJ
Personally I use Newzbin as a search/index tool. You have to pay but its only about £1 a month. I then take the NZB file it creates and use Newsbin Pro to download it from Giganews.
bmx1lew
i recomend usenet, i use power usenet for my server which is about £10 a month for encrypted service so your safe , Newsbin5 as my downloader then i pay 25p week for access to the newsbin site if you go on it now you wont see a button to download things but you can search for stuff. Files are always labelled correctly and always a lot of content.

Well i've gone for power usenet free trial and so far so good. Think ill stick with them as cancelled my easynews account. I downloaded the newsgroup headers for the xbox 360 group all 15million of them guess thats problem with 105 day retention high initial download. Anyway got Forza 2 as a backup and the image seems fine.
KaoriFan
i use Giganews, probably the best Usenet provider out there, if you don't mind paying for it. currently they hold and archive of 200 days binary retention, and over 1000days of others. they hold uncensored groups too, and you can get groups added if not on their server. Also, they have both a Europe and a US portal. Newzbin is good utility as well, only 2GBP for 8weeks. there is also a porn version of Newzbin, if you should want it, lol Recommend both if you want maximum retention. for a newsreader client i use Newsleecher, it is very good for use. one bad thing, if it crashes sometimes you can lose all the headers and have to get them again ja ne Ian

Jake
I never download all the headers. If you're using something else for searching (eg Newzbin) you don't need all those headers, the NBZ files contain all the info the newsclient needs to get the files from your nntp provider. Whitesupraboy2
Im using nothing else to search, i'll take a look at this newzbin, Jake you were right once you get into playing and using it starts becoming easier.
Jake
Yeah there's a bit of learning curve at first but you soon get the idea. Seems that you've got enough of us on here that use Usenet to give you all the support you'd ever need.
