Ou est le Windscreen Washer Motor SVP?

OK - daft question please guys (hence the 'franglaise' - hoped it might sound bit more 'mysterious' and worthwhile)

Can anyone please point me in direction of the fuse for the windscreen wash motor for the front

Cannot find blockage in tube - and no sign of 'whirring' from the engine bay - so presume must be fuse blown (or knackered)

Rear washers work though

Cheers

Well, the rear squirter runs off the self same pump as the front squirters do so it ain't the fuse :)

The pump is located in the passenger side wheel well - remove wheel and inner trim to find it. You'll find a 3-pin multiplug on the pump - clean up the connections on the plug and the pump and refit. YOu can easily test the pump once it's exposed as well.

Mine went intermittent then packed up altogether - this procedure fixed them ages ago and they are still working.

I've been here before Paul...when I first got the car though:stupid:

This may indeed sound stupid but have tried pushing the button on the end of the washer stalk rather than pulling the stalk towards yourself?

....runs and hides behind big rock

I would like to point out that my technical solution was in fact the problem I had - please don't think I did the same thing :)

Does this rank alongside "what's the grinding noise from the driver's side rear after I switch off the ignition" and "how many spark plugs do I need?" :D

OK...Ok...hands up!

Be gentle with me..I have done worse..ie

Called the AA out to fix a problem I had with the company car - an Alfa

The clutch kept sticking in the down (depressed) position

The yellow flashing vehicle duly arrived - and he stepped from the car

'can't understand it' - says I

'checked the cables'

'it's intermittant - and happens when I'm driving'

'everything else is fine' I continued

The burly and knowledgable gent nodded sagely and in comforting words softly spoke

'OK sir - lets take a look'

Opened the drivers door and...

Removed the floor mat that had slipped down the footwell and had wedged up against the pedal - stopping it from springing back!

He looked me with one of those 'shall I help you park your Fiat Uno, Madam' looks

OH MY GOD! The embarrassment:stupid:

Anyway - can anyone beat it?

Please say yes!

Yours in blondness!

My brother called the AA out because his car wouldn't start. It was an autobox. It was in Drive.

RTFM!

And Paul, no excuses, squirt. They just won't wash. Wipe that smile off your face. Are you like this all the time or is it just intermittent?

  • 1 year later...

I am sorry to say that I am reviving this for the same reason....

For the last week I thought my pump was gone as pulling it towards me (oo er) made no spashey stuff on my windscreen.

Rear one worked fine....

Ran a search, this came up and I thought hmmmmm

Sure enough, my own stupidity is highlighted.

I hang my head in shame

I do know of someone who was about to buy a passenger side window motor off me because theirs hadn't worked for about 4 months.

Before fitting it I thought I'd see if the motor did anything at all. It didn't.....until I pressed the Passenger Window Lock Out Switch on the drivers door!!!!

Needless to say I lost a sale!

I won't mention any names.....

I actually had the same poblem with my washer on a jspec celica gt-4 that i owned a couple of years back, but worked out the button pressing thing within ten minutes!!!!

Not that I'm taking the p1$$ or anything!!!!!

Although it took guts to admit your mistake, instaead of just lying and saying it was just a faulty connection or something.

One of the classic threads for sure, maybe there should be a section for non-technical solutions.!!!!!!!!!!!:D
