Gadget
Stripped most of my AirCon out the other day, from radiator to nearly all pipes in engine apart from 2 leading from the pump. 1 goes to nothing and the other leads to the bulk head. Anybody have any ideas as to why my heating wont work, just blows freezing cold air, or does anybody have any ways of diagnosing the problem. Another question does the heat follow the same pipes as the AirCon?? Thanks
Scooter
mate you need to search for "heater matrix" in the short term, looking from the front of the engine bay just to the right of the cam cover at the rear of the engine two pipes go into the bulk head within a few inches of eachother.........these are the heater pipes. With the engine fully warmed up and the heater on full check (carefully) for heat in both these pipes...... If you are not using coolant (assumed you've checked the rad and expansion tank) then its either a blocked matrix which will give you one hot pipe and one cold........or its a possible heater motor/module/control unit problem...... Gadget
Yes there is supposed to be two pipes, I only have one which is the one that goes to the AirCon pump (this one has L on a grey cap). In other words I have taken out the long pipe which is supposed to go to my rad, because I thought it ran my AirCon (this one has a H on the grey cap). Well looks like im off to reconnect all the aircon pipes and just leave the rad out (I hope it works and it aint heater matrix etc.)
Gadget
Have done a diagnostic and have the fresh air and defrost flashing at me any ideas. The AirCon rad/condenser does the heat in the car run from here, or how does heat get to the car and from where. Am begging to get very lost and have done a search

Am begging to get very lost and have done a search heating works independantly of the aircon....... the coolant pipes i described earlier carry the engine coolant in and out of the bulkhead. The other side of the bulk head (ie behind the dash) is the heater matrix and a fan blows outside air through it.......... where your aircon pipes go to the bulkhead.....look higher up with a inch or two of the bottom of the windscreen.......... i'm off to find you a picture if i can...........
