Thought I would do a new thread after the last one.

Well what a fun couple of weeks it has been stripping down my engine to find out what is wrong. I can confirm that the heater pipe is sound as is the thermostat housing.

I have located that the water is coming out of a little hole in the water pump any ideas if this can be fixed and what on earth is this hole for (I am thinking maybe something to do with the GTE engine?)

Well heres some shots of the damage

All water pumps "leak" internally. There is sometimes a volume for the water to fill up so that you don't see the leak on the outside - that is until the pump seal wears and the leak gets so large that it fills up the volume.

Then there is a small hole to let the water out so that the leak manifests itself.

Sounds like what ou have described. Can you post a pic of the pump showing the hole?

The hole is a core plug that if car freezes it pushes it out insted of cracking the water pump. U can get a new core plug to go in. The best thing to do is take the water pump off an replace the core plug that way.

As long as u mean the part that i think u mean.

yeah but inorder to get the pump off I need to get the timing belt off and that means removing the crank pulley etc, I could do it but it would take bloody ages.

I should be able to replace the plug, any idea on part number so I can order one through toyota??
