I was done for the same not long ago, even though they got the date wrong by a year. They work on the car model / colour / reg, so if you are lucky they have completely the wrong car, but on the otherhand their time may just be a typo, in which case they will keep coming at you. Worth fighting though, just try to keep calm and pleasant when talking to them. After a polite and apologetic exchange of statements and phone calls, I was offered and I accepted a caution in the end. Hope it works out for you. jamesmark Posted October 23, 2006 Share Posted October 23, 2006 Fight it if it was not you and you were not there, but if as mentioned above it was for a different date and the ticket was only printed on the alleged date, good on the £50 IMO am not the most innocent of people but a firm believer if your caught breaking the law etc then you deserve the punishment, this is how shit this country is you can getlet off for being in a fight and shoplifting but litter the streets and bang no questions asked punishment. Then, considering it for a minute, if I got sent a speeding ticket for a local road when I wasn't there, would I pay up, thinking "well, I have been known to creep over the speed limit on that road - maybe not this specific time but other times - might as well just pay up and take the points", or would I put every effort in to prove that I was actually elsewhere at the time...... Basically as well as checking trade waste and all the other stuff in the program they do people for littering. I'm all for it, like Pete i hate getting hit by fag ends, especially on the bike, if you don't like the smell of tabs then don't smoke in the car! And that's apart from the whole fag out of packet and lighting aspect while driving alone which to me has to be worse than gabbing on the mobile. If you don't pay you can get prosecuted for none payment of a fine so although it is council employees who send out the fines you can actually get a criminal offense for it. Expensive lesson! m.
