Turbofit opened box today to fit the cams and both are snapped in half...

When these was delivered they went in the boot of my car and not been touched since...

I need this sorted asap as turbofit are waiting to fit these to my head.

Can you please refund my money so i can order a new set asap.

They are hollow aren't they? I'm not being daft, that's how they lubricate..?

They look like solid bars to me but as previously stated I am stupid and no nothing......................

What I though strange was how both cams are snapped in the middle........One my imagination may accept but both and in niegh (probably spelt wrong)on the same place.:search:

The bearing surfaces in the head have no lube holes, and that wouldn't lube the cam bearing caps either, whereas I think I recall the journals on the camshaft itself have 2mm or so sized holes to sploog oil out onto the bearing surfaces as it spins. If I recall correctly, there is an oil feed hole on the front bearing surface of the cylinder head that somehow fills the cam with oil and pressurises it.

Thinking about it now I realise I don't really know exactly how they oil themselves, or if they really are hollow. Hence my questions :) They are heavy buggers though, so they can't be *that* hollow. Piccies, Sam, piccies :D A cross section view will be interesting.

Both snapped in the same place

Were these Brand new i.e never fitted.

ive seen this happed on a pug deisel were the T-belt slipped at high speed, think that when the Cam is actually hot theres more chance of damage in that way.

would be interested in seeing the pics. was there any damage on the packaging to suggest any thing had been dropped on them - like a lorry

Yeah that was my thought - if the cams were hit/bent hard enough to break surely the packaging was damaged and obviously warranted immediate investigation?

The only cam I've heard of breaking was actually in an engine at the time, tightened down too much by Thor and snapped when the engine was turned over...

Are all couriers really this sh1t as to be able to break a cam?

You would be surprised!

If they left Chris's house in as new condition (I am sure he wouldn't have sent you 2 snapped cams!), and you've signed for them without inspecting for damage then your both going to have to work with the courier to come to a resolution.

You might have missed the boat regarding damages as they have to be reported in most cases within 7 days.

I hope you guys get this resolved.

Let me know if I can be of any help.

Gaz.

A picture showing a cross sectional view would certainly reveal all.

Actually I'm interested in the cross secion piccy just out of techie interest, not sure if that's ghoulish or not :innocent:

If you still need an intake cam, Jamie, *cough* :sly: :eyebrows: of course I'll package it in old tyres, and you're paying the postage
