Been meaning to show you this pic i took when out on HMS Edinburgh. I was out on a family day, when sailing back into pompey, this came along side. All that is known about it is it is still under sea trials for the SBS, no specs, nothing (understandable) but what i can say is this, when it shot off at a very high rate of knots, something troubled me, but was not sure what it was untill i got home. It did not make a sound. It is amazing how a craft that fast does not make a sound, good piece of kit that,,

i want one

Could be an FBM or could be a Buzzi. Judging by the rooster-tail wake Id say it has surface drives. Judging by the air-intakes its got big engines.

These will be big diesel engines. Unless you were up-wind it would have made a lot of noise.....unless its a caterpillar drive, in which case youve witnessed something very secret and you should look out for men in black:)

This is designed for the SBS, so it will made to be as silent, their present fast attack craft is very quick and quite good on the noise factor considering how fast it goes ( went out in one some years back )

forgot to add, yes i have, this craft, all that is known is that it is for the Royal Marines, ie the SBS side, and thats about it. I've had the honour of working along side these blokes, and they have serious bits of kit to play with

Wow, sweet mate.

All I had was a kayak and a paddle, that or a pair of fins and a lotta leg work lol.

Seems like it made your day, glad you enjoyed it.

was good to see their future piece of kit, drinking lots of beer in the chiefs mess without having to pay made my day :friday:

Gives me great pleasure in apologising to SatNav for doubting him and for acting smart in my earlier posts. This 'silent' boat intrigued me and after a bit of digging I can confirm that there are indeed some special craft that make very little noise at full power. Massive restrictions in exhaust systems and very clever sound insulation combined with jet drives seem to work the magic. I take it all back Mr. SatNav.:)
