petrol prices - do something about it...

after today's news on the prices & seeing how much it is costing around the country, i wanted to try and make some effort towards doing something about getting our voices heard and attempting to get a result. Therefore, i had a look on the web & found that there is a government site where you can send a message to Tony Blair. The site says:

Send a message to the Prime Minister. All the messages are read and each month the Prime Minister receives a report on the issues raised, together with a representative sample of individual e-mails.

I think this would be a start if we got as many people as we could to do the same, in order to get this on his 'monthly report'. Here is what i sent:

Dear Sir,

How can you justify the amount of tax applied to our petrol prices? We pay fuel duty, followed by VAT on top of the total price. In order to pay for £1 of fuel i have to earn approx £1.27 because i also get taxed on my earnings. Today i felt i had to write this letter to yourself since we have finally hit the £1 per litre for fuel and i have heard that £1.09 is being charged in some areas of the UK. Disgusting. I know that you cannot control the amount charged for fuel but duty of approx 80% is seen to be a joke by the people of this country. I will be looking for any way possible to make my voice heard on this until something is done to return the price of fuel to a more respectable figure, whilst i continue to contemplate why i would want to continue to live in a country that does this to their own people, yet treats immigrants & criminals with more rights, respect & comfort.

yours sincerely,

Wesley

Mail bombs would be more appropriate......

Maybe a few samples of my $hit so Tony can get as sick of it as I am of his... We have been taking his for so long it's about time we returned the favor.

lmao :D not sure how long it would take for them to hunt you down if you kept doing that though!

I've got a better idea...... which is do-able as well...

Spread the word on the various boards, and get some press coverage...

Get a few cars to do a drive through london and up to 10 downing street and present the letter.....

Idea seems easy enough to pull off.

Gav

PS : Email sent as well

Guest beastly

If everyone round the country were to all get together and somehow get that fool out of no. 10 then everyone would be better off. The suicide bombers might even stop bombing us if we were to stand up against Tony Blair, i mean they did wait till after the election until they started all this shit. It looks to them as if we agree with the way he runs our country, i cant believe he was voted for again. The petrol is just the start, he get money from us anyway he can.

Has anyone else noticed that he has now TAKEN £90 million pounds from the taxes to pay for a new agency to combat binge drinking and anti social behaviour...

What a load of crap. Nice when you elect an official and he can just do whatever he pleases while in office with no regard for what the people really want.

Sorry but this aint about WHO'S in No:10, it wouldnt matter if donald duck was in there, (hmm maybe he is in there ;) ).

It's about how much you are going to pay for petrol ?, and when do you say ok thats it i aint taking this shit anymore,

Gav has came up with an idea, that could work but only if people DO IT.

Joe (Gamer ) aint even british but at least he knows we are getting our a$$ handed to us by the goverment.

Anyone wonder why the truckers aint screaming blue murder right now ?, they did not long ago, and ask us all to help out 'toot yer horn and the likes', yet now they must have got a deal through the backdoor, the general driving public is left to take this crap from the goverment,on double duty on petrol.

Andy

PS

oh and i did send a mail to the No:10 addy.

Nice idea, Gav, but TBH m8 they'll find a way for it not make a difference - it's their jobs to get around things like that. It'd be easy for them to 'leak' something to the press about the 'owners of gas-guzzling cars' were 'terrorising' number 10 because they are unhappy about paying so much for petrol and should 'get cheaper cars or catch public transport'. The public will soon be turned against us they're sheep at the end of the day they believe what the government tell them to.

Trev,

Yeah, I know they will spin it, but if it makes it to press at least voices would have been heard and it might spark something else off.....

I know, rocking up in some high power GPM (Gallons per mile) cars is a bit ironic, but any publicity would be good.... After all, a lot of us don't use the supra as our daily driver, however the fuel costs affects us all...

I run a deisel zafira, and while I get 450miles per tank, it does start getting expensive when I'm paying 101.9 just for deisel...

does Tony potter around in an economicable run-about or on the public transport? no. Jaguars, Mercedes & the likes are the transport of choice for our democrats

i read something in the Sunday papers yesterday that said Tony Blair was actually pressing the Transport minister for a reduction in fuel duty but that he wasn't having any of it since it has been frozen since 2003 anyway. IIRC the current duty amount is 47.1p per litre on Unleaded and 50.19p per litre on Super Unleaded

i'm in London all this week, unfortunately without Supra, but won't be able to get down for the letter handover. Good idea though & hope it goes well.
