Help!!!!!

hi guys, I was driving along last night and had to pull out of a junction quickly, so i floored it. The back end came round in line with the car (as it does!) and as this happened there was a lound mechanical clunk/banging noise that came from the rear twice. It was not an engine or exhaust sound, but definately something mechanical. I pulled over and inspected the car and saw nothing obvious so continued. Every now and then the noise happened again (this is quite a violent noise and the whole car shakes :( )

on further inspection (driving around the car park);

the noise happens even at VERY low speeds when cornering

It can drive along at medium/low speeds (40mph) in a straight line without any obvious problems (I havent ventured any faster)

I'm going to try and get it up on the ramps later, but I would really appreciate any suggestions from you guys for things you think i should look for :confused:

Thanks in advance,

Red.

okay, it looks like the diff is gone. sometimes the wheels will turn independently, and then something will catch and they will turn together for a bit, then if you hold one of the wheels, and turn the other, with a bit of force it will 'release' and then just turn easily by itself.

so what do you guys think?? how much is a new/ second hand diff?? and can you get them repaired????

any help much appreciated!!!

Ta!
