Ok, at the end of a looong road, I have finally got the the bottom of why my supra had a 5.8k redline. However, in curing it of this problem, I have stumbled across another, it goes like this:

 

After performing an Auto to manual swap, I had bridged the pins on the auto loom to allow the car to start, i.e. Fool it into thinking it is in neutral. However, a supra has a 5.8k redline when in neutral. As I had fooled my supra into thinking it was in neutral, I had a constant 5.8k redline! After much research,( I could not find a thread about it on this forum, but on the american forum....), I found a thread that stated, " Cut Pin 76(NSW) on the ECU, and that will remove the 5.8k redline. However,this should also mean that the car wont start, as its an auto ECU, it will think it is not in neutral. Here lies the strange part, my car did start. It starts, runs, revs to its proper redline and pulls like a train. But now I have error code 42, and a constant engine light on as soon as I accelerate harshly. Code 42 lists one of the faults as " open or short in the NSW circuit". Now you see my predicament, I do not wish to drive around with the engine light on full time. So, the electronically minded of you, how do I overcome this problem? I can only think that I either live with the 5.8k redline, or swap to a manual loom and ecu.

Put a relay on it so it thinks it's in neutral to start. Use power from the battery warning light or similar powered item that is only on when the engine isn't running but is powered for starting, you'll only need a small current to open the relay. Then as soon as it's started the circuit will close and it will rev normally without the fault light.
