Law Abiding Citizen (Possible Spoilers)

I have put a spoiler warning due to the fact that there will no doubt be spoilers at some point.

I know nothing about this movie other than what I have seen in the preview. Is anyone else really looking forward to this movie? I honestly can't wait to see it. Going from the preview the guy lost his family to some gangster or other and seeks revenge. At the moment I wish him all the best, no doubt the plot will be a little more complicated (ok, probably not) but I feel I am seeing a trend.

I've noticed over the past few months that the films that are stirring the strongest emotions in me involve revenge. My impression of this movie is along the lines of Taken and The Last House on the Left.

Is this the newest fad with the movies? Obviously The Last House on the Left is a remake of an older movie but there seems to be a bit of a trend regarding this type of movie over the last year or so (taken, last house on the left, anything with Jason Statham in, etc). I'm just wondering if this is the hook of the moment.

Anyone else got any insight into this movie? Any other movies following the same trend?

Saw the trailer to the movie, although the trailer seems to show the whole movie I might be tempted to see it. Does not seem to have much more of a story line like you saw & more of a revenge motive film, but people like these because it involves killing loads of baddies & having a happy(ish) ending. In the current climate these films cheer us up & remind us revenge is sweet :).

Oh I love Taken! I think it is a brilliant film, mainly because of the fight scences & he uses close combat fighting methods, but also because it is kind of undercover spy based (I love spooks, BBC Drama BTW) which I like, the whole finding clues etc. Taken seems to be remind me though of Kiss Of Dragon IIRC which had Jet Lee in it, again one of my favourites :).

Off to bed now.

I'll go with answer no.1 :D

To be honest. If taken was me in real life, and I could do what the character did, I would do exactly the same thing. As a nation we are generally helpless to most acts of terrorism. I think nowadays it's just nice to look outside the box with a little bit of optimism, hence why these movies are so appealing to us Brits at the moment.

Ok, enough wine for me. Time for more UFC carnage.
