Suprash
Not sure many of you know about this, I have left it a few weeks for emitions to settle down a bit lol. Round 5 of the BDC was in Llandow and I set off in the truck on the Friday evening all loaded up with the car on the back, stopped off at Halfords carpark to get something as we left and it appears the truck blew its headgasket, after spending hours in the car park with Gav (thanks again, that bloke is such a legend and he just keeps going) I had to get the truck recovered, which was surprisingly enjoyable at only £160 for a 7.5ton vehicle. So with the truck out I had to get the car to Wales still and was offered a car trailer, so went back home for some sleep before getting up early to get the car on the trailer. My mum offered to tow the car (like she has before) for me so at 05:00 we attempted to get the car on the trailer, which turned out not to be wide enough by 1 inch, so he offered me another trailer. Im hindsight something I wish I never done, but I knew I would have been a grumpy bastard all day at home if I didnt do everything within my power to get me and the car to Round 5. We pulled out of the yard and barely got up to 30/35mph and then it happened The trailer started snaking side to side, my Mum, bless her (another legend through out my first year of competing, always up at the crack of dawn, always cheering me on, always helping out changing wheels), tried to catch it and correct it but it just got worse until the point the trailer just spun us in a 180, trailer and car dug in on a ditch and flipped, thankfully the Landrover didnt go as well, as me, my girlfriend, sister and Mum was in that. I was truely gutted at the time.....
AndyT
That's nasty mate. Glad you and the family are ok. Any idea what caused the snake?
Suprash
The shell is dead mainly because of the roof, but everything else on the car is good. The skirts are ok, and it looks like we might be able to save the wide front and rear arches with a little bit of love and work.
Suprash
That's nasty mate. Glad you and the family are ok. Any idea what caused the snake? Shit car trailer, turns out is wasnt a manufactured trailer, one someone once built....... If I had actually known this at the time I would have probably reconsidered, but I just took it that it was ok.......

Suprash
So carrying on.........I now have a new 180sx shell to reshell everything over. I will get the shell sprayed so its a nice clean base to start with, then me and Gav will swap everthing over. I have definitely lost the front and rear bumpers, along with the bonnet so they will have to be replaced and as they will be brand new and at that point the car is all back together with fresh new paint, un-drifted bumpers and everything being generally new I will probably sell her on. She has been a fantastic car for my first year competing in the BDC for 2009 and due to a shit end and not making round 5 I slipped from my highest position in the Championship of 12th to 19th, which still isnt terrible but I was hoping to build on that and scrape into the top 10. I have said from the start I would never stick with the Nissan, my roots lay with the 2jz family and after this I have fallen out of love with the Nissan, but know when she is re-shelled she'll make a great car for someone else, and why she is all new and before I start bashing her up again I think now will be the time to sell her. I want to compete in a Supra for 2010 as currently there are no Supra's competing in the BDC although there are rumours someone else is building one, another reason I dont want them to be the first I will be on the hunt for an auto TT, I doubt my budget would stretch to a manual TT or a very cheap NA. Basically Im in the market for a Supra which might be un-sellable in the private marker for what ever reason, bad exterio/interior, so if anyone knows of such a car and the person is having trouble shifting it then I could be their answer...... Gutted for you mate, seen this happen a few times now, id never put my car on a trailer again. Jamie, yep Im with you now on this one, but thats one of the reasons I bought the truck over a trailer in the first place.......in hindsight I should have packed up and gone home when the truck went out of the equation..... $#@! me Ash just seen this, forget my call earlier today mate. nevins
Was bad to hear this of Gav when i rang him in the morning. Thought I heard wrong at 1st but then after speaking to you and seeing the car it was what i heard. Im glad your thinking of a supra as well mate as its a shame not seeing them in the championship. Will be in touch soon about the conversation we had as well.
pedrosixfour
Jesus, I bring my car to the trackdays with a similar type of trailer, there must've been something seriously wrong with the trailer you had because I'd be sitting at 50mph on the motorway and not as much as a twitch from mine (touch wood). As was said though it could have been so much worse, if the jeep had went with it or if the trailer had jack-knifed out into oncoming traffic. Best of luck in 2010! There aren't enough Supras being used on the track!
Dnk
Sorry to see this but good that your all ok. To be honest the trailer you had must of been a load of rubbish as ive never had a problem like that using a proper car trailer, ive been towing them for years with not one single problem. Suprash
It was the trailer unfortunately, as I said I have trailered my car before with no problems and had mates trailer their car all the time with no problems, if I was aware of the circumstances around that trailer I would have never used but it got offered to me just as any other trailer would have been or has been in the past, hindsight is a wonderful yet cruel thing As I said we literally pulled out of the yard, got up to about 30/35mph and it just went, so yeah something fundamentally wrong with that trailer. The chaps who its was said he had used it before, but obviously a combination of circumstance, the trailer + plus the weight and distribution of my car + the angle or towing dimensions of my mums Landrover = it just happening on that day.......but f**k it, its happened, no point crying over spilt milk, they say things happen for a reason and maybe it happened so that I would get it sold and get my Supra I have always wanted, otherwise I might have carried on crashed it on track and it burnt out and then I would never been able to sell it...who knows, the world is a funny ol' place But the biggest regret out of all this is that I never got to do that to her myself on the track !!!! I keep joking with my Mum she owes me a drift car, she KILLED IT !!!! lol.....

JustGav
...crashed it on track and it burnt out and then I would never been able to sell it...
