SILKYSMOOTH
I received this question from an ebay member, but not sure how to respond. What do you think this guy is referring too? hello, i would like to drive buy your car and drive it back to belgium... will i need something special, or just take the car and going back home? marc_p
I think he is asking if he needs any documents to take it back to belgium with him, it's either that or he is going to do a "drive by" and steal your car and want's to know if he needs a special gun. Rob Dublin
Was going to say he may need something if he's stopped by customs at the ferry and asked "is this your vehicle?" But then again Clarkson was asked same question when leaving Dover in the 612 on the car -v- plane challenge and (presumably) got away with it! SILKYSMOOTH
I personally have never driven a car abroad so I don't know exactly what it entails or what the procedures are!
SILKYSMOOTH
I sent him this back: Hello If you are referring to the quality of the car, then you will need nothing but petrol to drive it back to Belgium. If you are referring to the paperwork of the car, I have all the paperwork for the car, you will obviously need to register the vehicle in Belgium. I hope this helps. Thank you and he replied? ok tks a lot, but i think i will have to contact my Insurance company, to cover, or will you have papers to cover to drive back home? Rob Dublin
Never stopped taking a car abroad apart from when leaving France customs thought I was a drug dealer and pulled the car half to bits. Argueing with customs is much more fun when they're armed! No questions as to ownership of the vehicle. Free movement of goods and services means he should have no trouble but ust on the off chance he's stopped it may be an issue.
Rob Dublin
Obviously he'll need his own insurance. Usual warning about phoney banks drafts etc.
SILKYSMOOTH
what would I do with the (V5) Log Book? sale/transfer details in his name? or fill out the section under exporting the car? I have no idea

SILKYSMOOTH
The guy just got back to me again, and sent his name and address and telephone number and offered cash on collection, but £3500 is not exactly what I want for it. A bit too cheap I think... He also asked for my address? What do you do? He just raised his offer to £3800

Lbm
I think it depends what you have agreed to with this person, we are not Privy to what you have arranged- therefore it's impossible to advise you further... He seems a little pushy...however, did you agree to his offer...if you did, you may get a quick sale and in that case he is simply being direct. PM Jamesy, he very recently sold his Supe abroad. I think he organised the guy's insurance too...however, and I may be wrong...isn't it the buyers job to do that?- show's commitment too

If I did agree, I would prefer to adjust the ad so that he would have to win the ebay auction ( at least the deposit to be paid before I do anything)
Rob Dublin
Minimum I'd expect from a purchaser is a deposit to hold the car, especially if it's a distance sale. Emails aren't worth the paper they're not printed on. maybe I can get him covered on my Insurance? What if he crashes? That's your NCB gone. I have another 7 emails from this guy since my last post, seems eager to come tomorrow or saturday, no later than a week to pick it up. I spoke to my insurance and could possibly put him as a named driver for a short while for a small cost or he can get his own insurance policy other there to cover him My no claims bonus is protected...this should still count I hope. I have finally expressed that I would need a deposit 1st at least to secure the deal and poss £4000

As an eBay seller I am always very concerned when foreign buyers offer more and more and send lots of emails trying to rush me. Be very very careful. Also do not accept Paypal for the car since you leave yourself open to a chargeback (since you can't prove he has the car i.e. he'd just claim the signature etc isn't his). SILKYSMOOTH
If I get a deposit of £200 for paypal and the rest in cash I should be okay though right? I will only be charged on the £200? I am bit concerned too, as he keeps asking for my Adrress and Phone number and I keep asking for a deposit, so I am waiting for a final response. Feedback is not too bad - 98.5% - 2 negatives out of 127.
