Removal of the Trac Pump & Trac Actuator

Does anyone have some pictures or any help on doing this mod to my car. I've had a good read of the mkiv.com article but it's not as clear as I hoped it would be . I can't seem to find anything when searching the forum either.

Do you mean the throttle body parts Kev ?

Aren't there issues for a uk car and removing the Trac ?

I mean removing the Trac actuator.

Sorry to hijack this thread but wouldn't it be easier just to remove the Trac butterfly valve blade an leave all the electrics connected, hence no flashing lights on dash ? I don't know the answer its just a thought........ comments.

Just remember you need to route to the other side of car as the US abs pump is located beside the master cylinder.

I've removed the Trac butteryfly and I'm going to remove the bulb aswell. I thought as I have the engine out I may aswell remove everything that I don't need

That's excellent, thank you Bondango . I've ordered the NA brake line from Mr.T, just need to get the bolt and the rubber caps(which seem impossible to find).

slight hijack... i thought i read somewhere taking out the Trac control will save around 10kg?? Is this a simple-ish job for a garage?

I performed this removal last year, you don't require any extra brake lines, I will back track what I did and take some pics when I get home for you...I do recall that the bolt required to block the ABS port up was a 10mm FINE thread.

its been around 3 years since in did one, will take a few pics if i get a chance, your right the line reaches round ok from what i remember

from what I remember a pipe is that comes from the master to trac is just re-directed to the abs..all will be clear when I see it tonight..think the only reason yanks use NA pipe is because the master is on the other side..

Am I correct in saying that I need to remove the thread and pipe from where the red square is and redirect it to where the blue square is?

here you go, your correct with your pic, that is where the pressure feed is routed back into the abs...You need the correct pitch bolt 10mm fine thread to block off the port on the abs , this went to the trac...Also if you wish you can remove the line along the bulkhead that comes from the master...You will have 2 ports on the reservoir to block off too, the one that goes to the trac, and the other goes to the trac pump which is under the reservoir..

That is excellent, thank you Jonny. I managed to get a M10 x 1.00 pitch, was a nightmare though.

no worries, remove the trac pump too as this is the heaviest part, engine bay looks so much cleaner without it too, should be a piece of cake if your engines out too:cool:
