Nic
I am currently organising a group buy for new OEM oxygen sensors, we have enough orders now, so I have started collecting payments. If anyone else would like to join the group buy, please can you add your name and Supra model on the following thread http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=111237
Nic
Anyone who has a Supra with over 50k miles on the clock and has not changed their O2 sensor, your fuel economy could benefit greatly by fitting a new sensor. Here is a brief explanation of what the oxygen sensor does, The O2 sensor is located in the exhaust manifold, it basically tells the cars ECU how much oxygen is in the exhaust gasses. The ECU then uses this information to calculate the required fueling for the engine. Oxygen sensors have a lifetime of around 30k - 50k miles, eventually they stop sending an accurate reading to the ECU, when the ECU receives a bad 'signal' it basically goes into a default mode, richening the fuel mixture to ensure there is sufficient fuel. A dud O2 sensor is the main cause of poor fuel economy and poor emissions. An overly rich mixture will also cause a reduction in power. Anyone with a Supra over 50k miles who hasn't changed their O2 sensor will benefit from fitting a new one, both in terms of better miles per gallon and smoothness of their engine. The sensor itself is made from some exotic elements such as platinum, so they are a little expensive, but a new one will pay for itself in fuel saving very quickly. More details info here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oxygen_sensor The J-spec TT has one O2 sensor, the UK spec and NA Supras have 2.
