supRo
Right, I had the pedal down too much and spun at a roundabout Whilst I spun clockwise, the rear passenger side wheel clipped the curb quite hard. There's a sort of a deep graze on the alloy wheel but the rim is not bent. Although the car drives straight, the steering wheel is about 20 degrees to the left. There is some 'tyre rubbing' noise from that wheel when I do sharp right turn. There is no other noise. Or driving problems Is it very likely that I may have damaged the rear suspension or the steering components? I'm hoping that it's just the steering that is out of alignment! Thanks, Ro
absz
i told you to slow down did't i . heh heh anyway its more likely that you have slightly bent the steering rod.
normore1
After an impact like that I would check rear wheel alignment (or expect tires to wear out soon) and also rear wheel bearing. Rubbing sound is possibly due to damaged wheel bearing. derek
supRo
How lucky am I!! I had the wheel off and had a good mooch about - nothing looked bent. The wheel was physically at an angle... I had the wheels alighned yesterday at Northway Tyres, Collingdale, N.London - reccomended by Phoenix. The camber and Toe were totally out. The chap spent an hour and quarter on it...It's all back in spec now!!!! They checked out the wheels, where the inpact happened, you can see stress/fracture marks!!! They confirmed the wheel wasn't buckled and that it's only the paint that has the stress marks!! She drives like a dream now but will keep an eye on it. supRo
Indeedy... Squirrel was most concerned - he was behind me at the JAE convoy! He could see the wheel had a mind of it's own! Lol! Cheers, Ro
