TT 6 Speed Gearbox

My gearchange has always been agricultural to say the least however over the last month it has got worse and I now find it difficult to select 5th, 6th and reverse. I intend to look at the gear lever arm bushes as a first port of call, but has anyone else had experience of this issue and what are the chances of these bushes being the cause?

If it turns out to be the box itself is there anyone on here that reconditions / service exchanges boxes?

Any help much appreciated.

Cheers Dave.

Dave,

Back when I was investigating my problematic autobox, Peter at Sbits mentioned a place that does gearbox refurbs.

Sadly I don't have those emails any longer but it might be that he'll tell you if you call him. However, I don't know if he's still in business any longer.

A quick PM to Michael might get Peter's phone number.

Not much help really but it's a lead.

The condition of the bushes on the 6 speed can make the box seem even more agricultural.

Unlike boxes where the stick goes into the box directly, the 6 speed shift is remote, so perfect alignment is critical. Don't give up on the box until you have checked for play on the shift mechanism. It may be worth draining the box and refilling it.
