ellis
Morning all - am looking to change and upgrade my in-car unit to a double DIN unit with sat nav built in, CD, DVD, MP3, iPod connection, Parrot etc etc and have narrowed my choice down somewhat. I'm looking at the Pioneer AVIC-F900BT at the moment and was wondering if a) anybody has this unit and how they rate it for the price and b) if anybody has other units with the same functions they would happily recommend. Halfrauds are currently doing the Pioneer with free fitting plus a free 8GB Touch http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_10001_catalogId_10151_productId_557003_langId_-1_categoryId_165553#dtab Thoughts and opinions etc! SUPRA-JDB
yer mate, the pioner unit is a top piece of kit. go for the top of range though as only like 70 quid more and you get lots more toys.
Soonto_HAS_soop
caraudiosecurity are a good website, I've used them before. As for the pioneer, I wouldn't know, I only ever use Kenwood.

This one is pretty well specced up. Any idea what else I'll need to fit it properly? Harness? Cage?

The Restorer
Would be interested in your feedback on this. I was asking for OEM satnav for my M3 and the guys offered me this.
ellis
Will do on both of the above counts. It fits flush into the double DIN slot so it should be a nice clean finish.

Kev.O
Thanks Ellis. I'm just looking at the moment. I have the defi controls above my single DIN stereo at the moment so would need to find a home for that, if I were to go this route.

ellis
I like that, id like a built in satnav:cool: It is kinda cool - after having one on the Beemer (that wasn't here long!) I really fancied one on the Supe - better than a TomTom on the windscreen.
RobUK
I have the F700 which is essentially identical with the exception of DVD..... which the F900 has...... I considered this but honestly could see myself doing a "Pimp My Ride" with TV screens etc everywhere (no insult to those have done this, each to there own!) Anyway..... the stereo is brilliant, fits nice and flush, easy to use...... When you get yours fitted I would suggest getting the hand brake swith connected to be permenantly on, can't remember if it was live or earth, but either way it is advisable otherwise trying to use some functions becomes a pain when you have the hand brake in the way!... ellis
As promised - pics of the new install. This is a cracking piece of kit - love it already. Paired my phone up, downloaded all the contacts so now have true hands-free in the car. Great sat-nav, handles MP3s, MP4s, iPod, USB pens the lot! Looks the mutts too! http://img379.imageshack.us/img379/752/doubledinnb3.jpg My old single din Alpine unit is up for sale now as well here http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?p=2233474#post2233474 Edited January 9, 2009 by ellis (see edit history)
JamieP
Looks great, im going to order one of them.
ellis
Caraudiosecurity have put their price back up to about £672.00 (the £606.00 deal only lasted a couple of days). Halfords are still offering it at £799 with free iPod Touch 8GB and free fitting (they fitted it for free for me as well which was a bonus!). Halfords will price match as long as its not an internet only price (ie. the company has a shop somewhere).

ellis
Thanks, dont suppose you have a copy of that advert you printed off that you could email me? I don't I'm afraid - I bookmarked the page which has since changed (top of this thread) and Halfords kept the hard copy printout!
Beefyblx
Very nice, much better than my double din that sticks out. I will have to invest in one soon
Lukeyboy2k
Looks like a good unit and a neat install. How do you find using the satnav whilst on the move? The reason I ask is because I've been considering something similar for a while now, but always thought it might be a bit low down to use comfortably.
