Just bought my first supra today.

a 400bhp fully kitted out one with more gizmo's than the millenium falcon. big turbo conversion, the works.

never drove a car with a twin plate clutch so was a bit difficult to adapt at first round town but as soon as i got to the motorway.... oh my god....it was the mellenium falcon!

it scared the hell outta me!

i thought my integra type R was quick...

i can't get around the power of this thing.

i will get pics on soon as..

400hp is a small number for single turbo kit, the stock turbos will make that sort of power.

As said, can you post up pics of the engine bay and spec? Also post pics of the 'gizmo's' so we can identify what they are.

the guy said low boost it was 400bhp. i haven't turned up the boost cos i don't really want to mess about with it all until ui get used to driving it a bit first. i've temparerily lost my camera at the moment so i will send in pics as soon as i've found it.

Do you know who did the NA-T conversion?

I would seriously advise getting it checked out by a reputable tuner to make sure the conversion has been done properly and that the car is running okay. Converting an NA to single turbo is very involved and if done wrong will not be reliable and could go bang.

Do you know which HKS F-con is fitted? This is a good ecu, but you really need to get the mapping checked over to make sure it is running right, do you know who did the mapping and install?

no its a fresh import so theres nothing on the s-history bout it. i'm taking it to a tuner who specialises in supras and skylines so he'l hopefully sort n e thing out with it. it says F-CON V so i presume it means five unless its just a pattern of some sort?

So the conversion was done in Japan?

It will either be the HKS F-con V or F-Con Pro V, the pro being the newer version. Only HKS pro dealers are able to view and map the F-Con, who is the tuner are they an HKS pro dealer? If not they won't be able to check out/adjust the mapping. If it has come over from Japan with the F-con fitted, it could have been mapped to run higher octane fuel than is available in the UK, which could be very dangerous for your engine.

I can't stress enough the importance of getting the car thoroughly checked out ASAP, driving it without knowing it is running correctly could be disasterous for your engine.

private sale, but this guy imports quite a few cars. doesn't have a for-court or anything. if anything does go wrong he said he will be more than happy to sort me out. hopefully

Do you have that in writing? If not and the engine goes bang it would cost serious money to sort out.

Sorry if I sound like I'm scare-mongering, but I'm concerned that if the car is not set up properly, you could have a seriously expensive bill on your hands very soon.

the spanish inquisition is still alive ;)

Yeah, but for good reason. Last thing the fella needs is to find it's been mapped for high octane.

It does need checking out by an HKS approved dealer (which does limit choice a little), 400bhp is a lot of power to put though the NA if it's not been setup correctly.

bloody hell guys. i'm well scared to drive it now lol. last thing i want is it to blow up, especially if i'm in it!

As Homer says, I'm just trying to help you avoid any nasty surprises, it could be perfectly fine, but until given the once over you cannot be too careful.
