Steve W
You've got NO OTHER light on a same time ? (stating the obvious probably...sorry)
Bobbeh
Check all your hoses are on properly.. I put mine on with no issues.. so double check everything is where is should be and held on firmly.
lovatt
no steve no other lights, i have checked all the hoses and just been for a good run and it didnt do it once, hopefully the problem has sorted its self out ?
Alex
If its a UK spec it could be a MAF sensor issue. Otherwise it might not be the BOV that's at fault?
lovatt
its a j-spec, and i dont think it was the BOV i think it might have just been coincidence
Gareth Davies
The general warning light should always have another light come on at the same time. If you short the pins on the diagnostic port like described on Mkiv.com then it'll tell you the last error it recorded. It'll at least give you an indication of what it thinks is wrong. I've seen this come on and off intermittently a few times, and everytime it's because of the brake fluid level (once in the NA, twice in the TT), which usually has the handbrake icon on at the same time. Guest Martin F
Make sure the doors and boot are closed tightly. This can cause intermittant indication and no error codes will be recorded. Admittedly you should be able to see the door open indicator on the dash but it tends to be hidden behind the steering wheel when driving along. Ian C
What speed are you doing when the light lights up and does it flicker? -Ian
lovatt
not really a flicker, stays on for about 6 seconds, and its usually when i am coming to a stop, the brake fluid level looks good but i am going to top it right up to make shure its not that, thanks for the ideas guys, hopefully i will be able to let you know what it was after the weekend ! Thorin
I'd say brake fluid. I've found that mine will light up if it's so much as a couple of millimetres below the full line. Mine's actually filled slightly above the full line.
Terminator
On the Jap spec the fluid drops quite a bit with pad wear so you need to keep it topped up.
Guest wglennie
I have a constant master warning light on and Toyota advise me that the error number is 42 but as it was a JAp import, they didn't know how to fix it - somthing to do with speed sensor. My auto spolier at the front has been disconnected,as I have a blitz spolier on the front. I sthis related? How do I fix it ??
Scooter
The link below should help, and given your location i'd advise you see Pete at Thor. Code 42 thread
mark brown
The Master Warning light without any other warning lights is frequently caused by an active spoiler fault, check the active spoiler works ok. Mark Brown
suprarob
I agree mark this problem has come up before check out the active spoiler fuse first
Scooter
The error code 42 (scroll down) indicates a speed sensor circuit problem. I didn't know the active spoiler was part of this circuit, but now i do the following may be helpful. Active spoiler warning light fix
Guest wglennie
Thanks Mark & Scooter for your posts. Just to be clear, the active spoiler has been removed and therefore I'm guessing the ECU thinks there is a issue with it and I need to understand how I tell it to ignore any alerts from it. mark brown
There is a fix for the wiring on this BBS or you can do what I did and just remove the Active Spoiler ECU, it sits behind the radio Mark
