Guest Paul_Supra
I know that you can reset the ECU by pulling out the fuse, but when is best to do it? Do you do it when the car is hot or cold? Do you have to leave the car to run first or drive it straight away? When you do drive it, is it best to drive it hard or sensible? Im looking for better fuel economy and heard resetting might help. If it doesnt help, shall I get it tuned up on the rolling road? Will that help? What happens if I get it tuned up and then take my battery off for over an hour some time after being tuned? Will it loose all that the tune up did? Sorry for all the questions but I wanted to make sure what to do before rushing into anything, loosing lots of money and ruining my car. Many thanks
Jake
Yes pulling the EFI fuse is the best way. Hot or cold? doesn't matter. Run first or drive it straight away? doesn't matter. Drive it hard or sensible? sensible shall I get it tuned up on the rolling road? The stock ECU cannot be tuned What happens if I get it tuned up and then take my battery off for over an hour some time after being tuned? Will it loose all that the tune up did? See above. Prof. Monkey
Paul, the search button is your friend! But anyway it depends on what gains you expect, lots of people try different things and the effects are ???? Some people swear by certain mods, others suggest to refrain from them. But the basics: Intake - I hand now jim_supra has a lovely injen intake, sounds lovely, makes the throttle a little more attentive. Easy mod (15+ mins) Exhaust - XERD Headers, replaces stock header and collectors with a long branched 6-2-1 pipe that replaces primary CAT. Good gains and dyno proved, reasonable price, but need access to the bottom of the car. Exhaust - Blitz NUR-Spec, or similar, perhaps no gain but sounds lovely! Extreme mods - 440cc injectors and Apexi SAFCII to control, upgraded fuel pump. DaveH Manifold, that replaces the stock over the engine intake, lower charge temperature, denser air. Larger Throttle body. Cam gears - Supposed increase in BHP due to advance the timing. Super Extreme - NA-T mod, basically a single turbo charger grafted onto a fabricated exhaust manifold, circa 350bhp at the wheels.
