penguin
i heard on the radio (radio one) this morning - someone from the "intelligence" community saying 1000 suspects had been arrested since 9/11 - of those, 27 have been convicted of terror charges - and only 9 of those were "muslim" ..... michael
What's the problem imi? Someone watching you? Surely it's Dame Eliza Manningham-Buller you should be thanking for her hard work?
JohnA
So all these hundreds of people are suicidal religious maniacs willing and prepared to blow up the very towns/cities where their own friends and families live. Let's think ahead for a moment: Is it not obvious what will happen afterwards to all of them? ...so they either are *cretins* (so they can pose no real threat in a society with as heavy surveillance as ours) or *someone* is desperate to make us believe that these people pose a threat. Come on, who in their right mind would be so stupid and defecate right outside their own doorstep? Am I the only one to see through this pathetic plan? michael
I went to primary school with a lad who used to poo all over the place, he once did one in the playground. Anyway the point I'm trying to make is that he didn't go on to be a terrorist.
Pete
I went to primary school with 'a lad' who used to poo all over the place, he once did one in the playground. It was you wasn't it? Go on, admit it!
JohnA
I'm serious here. Think of Germany in the 30s. Then multiply that by 10. That's the kind of avalanche that such 'terrorist' actions would start. They'd have a LOT to lose and nothing to gain. It makes no sense. supra steveo
what i want to know is why they want to blow england up? they live here and i belive their families have worked so hard to be allowed to move here, its kind of like biting the hand that feeds you, and it is doing my head in, i think these people who want to fight us should be stuck on the back of a herc and dropped over afghan or iraq and see how they like that

Ewen
MI5 has increased in size by nearly 50% since 9/11 and now stands at roughly 2,800 staff. But according to Dame Eliza the current terror threat will "last a generation" and her concern is that even with MI5's rapid growth, the security service will not be able to investigate nearly enough of activities it deems to be suspicious. She said hard choices would have to be made about resources. "We have recruited the cast of Spooks [the TV series] as they seem very good at solving these problems with just six people," she explained. Your comments are seriosuly flawed, the prob you have is trying to compare a normal commen sense person to someone who is motivated by religious anger and hatred, they dont have the same wires connecteds everyone else, common mate, flying a plane into a building....... blowing yourself up on the tube, they arnt right in the head. Matt H
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/6134516.stm whats your problem with this mate? its got to be done for the safety all all british people, do you want nothing to be done and then other terrorists attacks happen. If it wasnt for the work of the secret service and this kind of thing then god knows how many people would have died if the attacks on the british planes leaving manchester and heathrow, if they hadnt have been thrawted. BIG to you and your attitude on this.

Sounds good to me. That's 27 potential horror stories avoided in my opinion. Now that's money well spent I reckon.

BIG to you and your attitude on this. hmm... didnt want to drag myself into this - as we all know what happens when people dont agree anyhow - the job of the secret service is... in my eyes.. to remain secret - to go that extra mile to ensure the safety of OUR country... i cant see that happening when some idiot fuels up the media hype with unsubstantiated claims... way i see it, the whole country is being shitted up just so "policy" can be passed to "protect" our civil liberties ( yeah right...) terror threats have always been around.... people are too quick to forget how the IRA use to blow up buildings, pubs etc etc just a few years ago... (and before some smartass jumps in ... no, i'm not saying let the real terrorists have their way - i'm saying shut up, and do your damn job!) JustGav
Okay, how about adding something to all of this. What are people's views on 'Black' squads... the guys who do all the shitty jobs that nobody likes to admit to and all governments deny, but they certainly support them. In order to live in a controlled society somebody has to do the dirty work and yet nobody likes to admit that they do it. As far as shitting on the door step?? Come on, these radicals believe in a higher cause, and their own misery is not a factor in anything. If you really really believe in something does it matter if you have to suffer for it? JohnA
... If you really really believe in something does it matter if you have to suffer for it? There have always been suicidal fanatics in these armies, in fact it was one of the reasons the Ottoman empire had such a powerful punch. The best were orphans stolen from their families (all over the empire) and then subjected to intense indoctrination and training. Dying for Allah was the ultimate honour (virgins in the sky etc) Suicidal soldiers are the hardest to tackle, so they were formidable. But here their own families would kick their ass if they were to play soldiers, because it would mean them all kicked out of Europe unceremoniously. No ifs, no buts. That's why I can't believe the official story, it's full of holes, inconsistent with human nature and illogical. It's extremely easy to find fanatical idiots and make them do things, or just blame them for what is done behind the scenes. Or just let them brag and take the 'credit' for the actions of darker forces. It's not about the Truth, rather perceptions and impressions. The Sun headlines if you like. Just try to imagine the legislation that can potentially pass through such scaremongering. We're talking about billions and billions of wealth (real estate etc) changing hands pretty rapidly. tbourner
It's funny to me that they're using our freedom of speach and human rights rules to come over here and be able to speak out and fight the western way of life (which includes freedom of speach and human rights!).
