Guest Garfy
well, the MX5 has had the wrong sized tyres on it for some time now (195/55/15 should be 195/50/15) and we have just been waiting to wear them out before replacing them, well the wife got a puncture on one of them Last week, I looked at it and noticed it was on the legal limit anyway, excellent, new tyres time, I started ringing around and was getting prices of about £50 each, then I noticed that Halfrauds were doing a set of wheels and tyres in the right PCD and offset for £200, worth a punt I though, and boy am I glad I did, I'm really pleased with how they look, and would you believe they are lighter than the OZ's that were on it, meaning it drives soooooo much better, less crashy over bumps, and handles much better, I'm really really pleased with my bargain wheels What do you think? AndrewOW
They look great Garfy. Really suit the car. Bargain too, by the sounds of it! I'd imagine the tyres are a bit dodgy though.
Guest Garfy
yeah, there never going to be the best tyres in the world, but they are better than the rubbish that was on it, they will do till some more work comes in thats for sure

Guest Garfy
Mk1 MX5's dont like 17" wheels, it did infact have 17" wheels on it when we bought it, taking them off was one of the first things I did. The Mk2 copes better with them though, so the black car should be ok

heckler
what are the OZ wheels like?
Todd
Had 17" wheels on one of our old ones but wasn't impressed, kind off ruined the handling compared to the stanfard alloys we had on the MX5 before. 17" look great though standard, fantastic handling. But you are right, the MK2 seems to be a lot better with the 17" wheels. Current car.

Guest Garfy
what are the OZ wheels like? 15 x 7 OZ F1 cups, in very good condition, the odd little scratch and 3 centre caps missing, but someone is supposed to be collecting them tonight
Guest Garfy
Bloody hell, I weighed those wheels before I put them on the car and with the tyres on they came in at 11kg's each Just out of curiosity I've just weighed the old O.Z's and they come in at 18kg's each (with tyres) that means I've saved nearly 30kg of unsprug weight, no wonder it drives so much better so much for O.Z's being lite weight wheels huh?
