Guest gigerj
Hi all, Can you tell me at what point the TT needs its auxiliary belts changing and how much is the job likely to cost?

Guest gigerj
thanks scooter - is there no suggested mileage that the belts should be changed then? Also, worst case scenario - what would happen if one of the belts snapped?
Scooter
Also, worst case scenario - what would happen if one of the belts snapped? there is only 'one' aux/fan belt on the supra...............worse case scenario is it snapping at medium/high speed just before or mid corner, as you'll lose the power steering and its apparently very very heavy without assistance.............so worse case is a crash........more likely is a AA/RAC call out and tow home..... They are very tough belts, so if the ribbed side is not very cracked and the belt has not stretched (see the 'goal posts' on the tensioner) then it will almost certainly be fine. Looking at it another way though a new one will almost certainly outlast your period of ownership so why wait 6-12 months to renew.......
Guest gigerj
Im on 140k miles now. So im thinking of refurbing the entire brake system and also getting the aux belts done.
robin
The belt isn't expensive and isn't hard to change. If in doubt i'd change it, just make sure its seated on all the pulleys correctly.
Mike M
The aux belt also drives the water pump so bye bye engine if you try to get home.
supra_si
is this the most likely belt to squeel in the morning?
Chris Wilson
is this the most likely belt to squeel in the morning? Yes, and some makes are noisy all the time.
