Auto - 'Overdrive off' Flashing???!

I need a bit of help. I was on my way home for the garage and noticed that the 'o/d off' light keeps flashing on and off whilst i have o/d on!? does anyone know what this could be?

seems to be a common fault of late , chatting to a few guys at japfest , first thing to check is that the brake fluid is full right to the top , not sure myself the next step if its still flashing but try that first

My O/D light has flashed like that for over 5 years.Never had any problems.Don't know why tho.

i think the guys were saying to fill it right to the top , as when i checked mine it was up to the full level , but still room for more .

other things i remember now is it could be dry solder joints somewhere , or faulty sensors , cars showing signs of its age now dont forget

try your fault codes

It's a fault with speed sensor, or at least the wiring to one of the sensors.

There are two ways to sort this!

The first to try is to take the top panel off the speedo surround and find the odo printed circuit board,RESLODER all the joints on the rear(with age these crack and are called Dry Joints).

The other thing to do That Sorted mine is to disconnect the odo connector plug you will see a plain pink wire and a blue/red wire

CUT the pink and connect the loom side of the pink wire to the blue/red wire (splice it in) the small part of the pink wire just tape it out of the way.

THIS WILL cure the flashing light with no affect to anything else.

A faulty speedo / odo converter chip can cause this and I'd investigate that first as quite often they're poorly installed using scotchlocks or similar.

The brake fluid level thing is when you have the yellow warning triangle coming on, not the O/D off light.

Peter had the triangle, the brake sign, and the OD fault I believe. Lol, doesn't rain it pours.

yep the order was od off flashing first , then the red triangle at about 75 , then the engine light on the side

Got my car back from garage today, same light had been flashing and speedo stopped working altogether, faulty convertor chip, new chip installed and all working fine.
