Are the two boxes at the back the active spoiler and traction control ECU's? Which is which?

My top one is disconnected, and the bottom one is still connected. But is it safe to remove both from the car completely? (I do not have spoiler and have RLTC installed)

Cheers

yes they are

the top is the active spoiler ECU the lower is the ABS/Trac ECU.

You can remove the active spoiler one completely, but as for the ABS/Trac ECU I'd leave it connected as it's part of the ABS circuit, but also I believe is used by the Auto gear box for gear changes.

That's wicked, thanks mate!

I was hoping to remove the active spoiler and traction control buttons from the dash completely, and use a blanking plate over each switch location, so obviously the spoiler can go no problem. However, do you know if I can remove the trac control button with the ECU still in place? Or should I just stick it behind the dash and fill the hole, leaving it connected?

Cheers!

Unfortunately not RLTC and stock TC co-exist - you should get into the habit of disabling the stock TC each time you get into the car.It is possible to remove the Trac Fuse I believe, but you'll suffer with bad gear changes on an auto.

I'm fairly sure about this but not 100% certain - maybe worth a quick search to confirm.

FAO: Removing the switches/buttons on the dash, these are the part numbers reqd. for blanking the switch holes: (Part #s courtesy of Nic on another recent thread!)

55537-14020 x 1 pc

55538-14020 x 2 pc

Not having checked this, but I'd assume that the traction control switch is the single part # above, the other two are for heated seats and spoiler buttons.

if you want to take out the active spoiler ECU and button is there anything else you need to remove? my active spoiler was removed ages ago?

Nope Ross,

All I added when I retrofitted the spoiler was the spoiler the switch and the ECU. As long as the ECU is disconnected you'll lose any MIL warning.

How are you anyway not seen you online for a while.

Top box is active spoiler, bottom is traction control mate ;)

Mike - thanks for your help mate - greatly appreciated! I'll have a search around about disabling stock TC - didn't realise it was enabled TBH.

ok cheers

got the error light on at the mo as the active spoiler has gone but the ecu is still pluged in. Will unplug that when the car is back
