Aerotop Dave
There's been a few threads on this - try a search for 'dashboard' or 'dashboard paint'. This thread might be of particular use: http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=16935
Matt B
Mate to be honest I gave up on the idea after all the trouble I heard it was. Don't call me a sissy but I just did not want it to look worse than it did to start with. Got it sprayed and it was well worth the money cos it looks fantastic I reckon. dangerous brain
Right I did mine recently with fairly good results. The thing I found the most difficult was the spray painting. Getting the vulcanised rubber off wasn't too bad. I used neat acetone in a spray bottle. You do however have to be a bit carefull cos if you get over exuberant with the acetone you can melt the plastic underneath. Basically a big square of scotchbrite (plastic scouring pad of the green variety) with acetone (ie nail varnish remover) will shift the rubbery nastyness. After that for a good finish its up to you sort out the rubbing down.

dangerous brain
(I used one of them plastic refillable spray cans)Edited to say for the acetone lol I just realised that you meant paint. Yes I used an aerosol paint. The finish is very durable but if you want it even more so use a laquer over the top as well. Be advised though I don't think you will manage the job in one weekend. Also I cooked all my panels in my oven at 60 degrees no problems (stank the house out mind). Near the end I was just pouring the acetone on but you have to be very carefull to not let it sit in a pool or it will start to melt the plastic underneath. If you can get hold of a sheet of perspex snap bits off and use the corners as scrapers, this works very well and cuts down on the amount of elbow grease required. If you get stuck drop me a PM and I will see what I can do to help fella.

dangerous brain
If you have coloured seats try and pick up a colour in those to match to. I did mine in the same red as my seats alcantara centres. Failing that mettalic/mica black looks good. I have seen a few done in silver which looks OK but I really wouldn't go with matching your exterior paint just my opinion. Blue????? Stopit man!!! Before you know it you will have XR3i decals down the side and hoofing great spots fibreglassed into the bonnet with a big blue FORD emblem across it again!!!!! Actually though thats one thing ford did get right with those cars the blue/white mix is very good. The car is starting to come together quite nicely now. Getting the rear seats done and a little more work on the fronts in a couple of weeks. My genuine article Veilside skirts should be along in a day or two. Three weeks time the car goes to the spray shop to get the skirts painted and the dodgy 11 year old paintwork attended to. Then hopefully the insurance company will have sorted Hi-supes claim out and I will get me donor vehicle in time for my insurance renewal. If you are about this evening I might be tempted to take the wagon out for a blat to yours!
Steve W2
I've done this as well and can say that it is a PITA but does look good after. Mine has been on for about 9 months without any problems or scratches. I used nail polish remover, a scouring pad, a 2p coin:D (seriously) 50p would perhaps be better and halfords paint and lacquer. I did mine metallic black in a silver car, painting it silver would be a bit too much for me. oh and PMSL and WSB2!! Can't wait to see those blue 'Supra' decals your getting down the side:D I am putting the silver 'Supra' logo for the brake caliper on my dash when I get round to finishing it:D
