Paul -C-
I couldn't be arsed waiting a week to get my new boot rubbers to cure the common boot rattle problem, so I did a quick fix in the meantime. All I did was stick some double sided foam pads on the boot rubbers (pictured here: http://www.mkiv.com/techarticles/hatch_rattle/index.html )Then I stuck some black electrical tape over the top of the foam. Took me 5 mins and I don't have any more rattling from the boot. Now if I could only find where the glovebox rattle is coming from I would be happy
Roy
i tried that - even doubled up on everything AND replaces the circular rubber piece thats runs around the aperture of the hatch but to no avail ..
peter richards
roy , are you sure its the rubbers, my tailgate makes a rattling noise, iam sure its the struts , because the tailgate will not stay up, the struts are obviously empty of gas or oil (whichever) hence the rattle . Roy
peter - i am positive it's the rubbers as the struts work perfectly and whenever i add velcro strips or electrical tape, the sound damps down a bit.
