Remove steering wheel w/airbag

How to, i know the one wihtout airbag is just to ripp out, but this one with airbag is not that easy, how do you guys take this steering wheel off ?,

Disconnect the battery, then I think you'll find that there is 2 plastic panels either side of the steering wheel that need to be removed to gain access to the air bag fixings.

yes and thats it, remove the bag you'll be able to see the big nut holding the wheel on there

Dont forget when you disconnect the battery to remove the negative terminal and then leave it for a good 10-15 mins as some componants can store a charge which may still let the bag go off.

Did manage to take out the side panels, but just to see a relly wierd bolt at those sides.

Its round and star shapped in the middle, non of my 10 diffrent screwdrives matched.

What tool do i need for it, and what is it called.

torx bits

Sizes are in T20, T35, T40 Etc format

i cant remember what size you will need but you can buy them in halfords and come in socket format or screwdriver format

Spot on, just make sure you use the correct size, if you round them off your in trouble.

Just got the tools and managed to remove the two star shaped screws, but bought wrong sizes at first so had to go change =).

Anyway, after i got them off i took out the airbag, and saw the big bolt in the middle, put some WD40 on it and it got out pretty easy.

But the F***R wont give up, there is nothing left holding the steering wheel, ive tryed to hammer it from behind and, plenty of WD 40 and still nothing, i almost past out when i gave it a final go, if someone had recorded me on a cam i would have won first price at candy cam haha.

I know they tend to get stuck after so many years, ´had one without airbag and it was hard to remove that as well after i got the bolt out, but this shit just takes the price, it wont move 1mm.

Will try tomorrow, put some more WD40 and will let if over night.

Did you had this nightmare as well, when removeing the steering ?

Just remember to put the bolt on a few turns before you go mental with the wheel pulling, the last thing you need is a broken nose when it finally does decide to come off

I relly dont want to crack anything as you said, but this thing requires some serious pulling to come off.

take off the bolt

then screw it back on 2or3 threads so when you pull off the wheel the bolt stops it rather than your nose

Micheal Found out about that RR at RSCS it was slightly under reading so you were right

LOL, the first time i did that (on the other car, a wheel without airbag) it came right on my head, so this time i put on my dirtbike helmet =)

As i said, tomorrow ill ask a friend to record me on cam, i promise y ill get first price on candy camera, cuz this time ill go mental on that wheel.
