jot_ie
I need to replace my two front tyres when the new suspension bits arrive. I was trying to get the same type as I already have, Bridgestone s03's Just been informed they are no longer available. Are Bridgestone s03 's no longer being made? What would be a good tyre as close as possible to the s03's I found the Bridgestones wore very well while not compromising grip. Chiefgroover
NO. However if you have 18" wheels Carryduff tyres 029 90 814460 have 2 x 275/35/18 SO3 in stock @ something like £95 plus vat each. If these dont fit, Bridgestone RE050a the replacement pisses all over the crappy SO3, better grip, more progressive and controllable drifting and way less road noise. jot_ie
Chiefgroover Thanks for your reeply I am looking for 235 40 r18 for front. Just got a price of €180.00 (£125.00) for bridgestone re040 's (per tyre) and €255 (£176.00) for reo050's again per tyre Are the reo050 that much better? Chiefgroover
RE050a are "savage" in the wet, make RE040 look useless. RE050a I have tested in all conditions including the ring as hard as i could thow it at it, and they are the ultimate road tyre (unless you wanna use very short life R compound track day tyres). ON RE050 if you hang the tail it wont flick back like on SO3. SO2 cleared water well, but that was about it. SO1, close to RE050 but didnt clear water. AS you can guess i went through a lot of tyres on my Supe. Pilot sport, the old style with the V pattern sucked too, awful off the line and rolled the side walls on hard cornering. PS2 are great though.
Ian R
Bridgestones are crap IMO would go for Goodyear F1's everytime after using both
jot_ie
Many thanks for that. You have just helped me make up my mind. 050's it is. for the sake of the extra couple of euro I think its worth it. I dont believe in skimping on tyres. Thanks again John
mawby
Bridgestones are crap IMO would go for Goodyear F1's everytime after using bothI'd have to disagree! The SP03's I had were excellent, and if these RE050a's are even better still then I'll definitely be trying them when I get a Supra again. Ian R
Only used sp02's found they lacked grip
jot_ie
Ian R just out of curiosity, which f1's Eagles? John
Chiefgroover
"sureslide" SO2 were awful off the line. Thats V shape tread patterns for you, I'd never use them again. (Goodyear are almost parallel so I dont include those).

jot_ie
Going to keep an open mind , but am a bit biased towards the bridgestones, just because I have them on the rear of the car as well. I Like to keep them matched, well as close as possible anyway They havent let me down yet. But I will be checking out the F1's too. Many thanks for all your help guys. Hope I didnt start a big debate John
Burna
The RE050a I found on on BlackCircles are: Bridgestone RE050 A (Run Flat) Run flats? Are those the right ones?
Wez
The run flats have a lower speed rating, upto 168mph instead of 186mph and are loads more expensive. Look here for normal http://ssl.delti.com/cgi-bin/reifenbestellen.pl?typ=R-103205&dsco=
