Jay_vr6
before anyone asks why not a 2jzgte, They didn't have one when i wanted to do the conversion, I've always like the 1jz since my Mk3 supra days and the price was most definitely right!! http://www.forcerecon.freeola.net/1jzengine.jpg It is awesome, standard 1jzgte (the revised first edition twin turbo) with fmic. Absolutely smooth and not one problem in the 350 miles I've stuck on her since sat morning. Finally that lsd I have fitted feels like its working now This is so smooth compared to the 2jz and very revvy! All the guys were extremely helpful and the quality of the work is second to none! Big thanks to Steve, Jezz and Jamie for all their hard work on the project! Just need to do some tidying up in the engine bay, my cam covers need a bloody good seeing to, roll on the warm weather

j_jza80
Nicw work. It's always nice to see something different. Have you driven a Supra with a stock 2jz-gte before? It would be nice to know how quick it is in comparison.
Jay_vr6
w58 gearbox for the moment but i have an r154 sitting in the garage for when the inevitable happens I have only driven a 2jzgte once and this engine is a lot smoother in the power delivery. caseys
*sniffs* Nice to see my old car. Glad it went to the right kind of owner and it's not being abused (in a bad way anyway ) If we ever meet up again you'll have to take me for a spin in it J. Branners
How much was the conversion? Seems like an interesting way to go for extra power but on the cheap.
miko_supra
Very nice, whats the spec on these engines? bhp/torque?

The Raven
More to point would a man box from the old mk3 work on a tt mk4?
DAT Inter
More to point would a man box from the old mk3 work on a tt mk4? Being a R154 box, yes.
Chris Wilson
Nice conversion, the 1JZ is a much "sweeter" engine than the 2JZ
Tom
Nice one, even if you got bored of the rev happy 1JZ you can always go for the 2JZ bottom end if you ever look for more torque, but you've probably saved a fair few kg's on the front now too Edited March 16, 2009 by Tom (see edit history)
Tom
More to point would a man box from the old mk3 work on a tt mk4? yes but you need a JZ bell housing
Jezz
Nice conversion, the 1JZ is a much "sweeter" engine than the 2JZ My thoughts exactly. I've driven hundreds of 2jz's, but this shocked the hell out of me when I was testing it. Much smoother throttle response. Revvy little blighter, very pokey. colsoop
Cheap manual N/A + 1jz GTE. Interesting. What does this conversion cost, i assume it is cheaper than the 2jz equivalent ?
The Raven
Ok so what would be the cost of supplying and fitting one of these and the 5 speed box? Is it more cost affective than doing a straight TT lump to an N/A auto?

Is it more cost affective than doing a straight TT lump to an N/A auto? Definitely at the moment but as soon as other people get on this bandwagon the prices will no dought go up, you can pick up mk3 R154 boxes from £150 and the engines around £500+
