Lockys96 subbox silicone moulds

As i dont really have the time to make these at the moment and cant see myself getting round to making them again.

I will offer these to someone willing to take them on and make them, id say it cost me about £500 in materials (£250 on silicone) and 200hrs+ to firstly design from scratch and make each part and the moulds.

There are 2 moulds, 1 for the base section, and 1 for the top section. The plus with silicone moulds as you dont need a release agent.

Each mould is a silicone inlay which sits into a fibreglass shell, the fibreglass shell is split into 2 halfs enabling the mould to pop out due to the undercuts.

i learnt how to fibreglass by self teaching, if you have enough patients, anyone can do it, the moulds give a 90% finish, its just the bonding required and prep work with all fibreglass work.

Boxes designed to clear spare wheel, fit with rear seat in, and clear boot blind.

All the hard work has been done.

I will include 3x top sections allready moulded, and a huge roll of fibreglass worth £100. Over the last 3 years, i must have had over 40 people wanting one, even with me not bringing it up.

Hmm. Im interested. I assume it was just laying up the mat inside the silicone mould, adding several layers to build the thickness ?

Was it more mat to join the two together or something else.

exactly that colin, takes a bit of trimming of each section before you can bond. then its a case of finishing

Me 2! These would look awesome carbon wrapped!

Was thinking about asking a friend who had access to a clave actually...

But then wondering how well a full carbon fibre material would stand up to the battering of a sub. That and mounting the sub in it.

cant see there being a problem using carbon if its thick enough and sealed properly then it will be more resistant than the fiber glass.

It could also be fiberglassed and then a carbon layer over the top which would look good providing that you don't upset the weave when you apply it, some people have used this idea on the dashboards and have had some pretty good results.
