Brake Guru needed, which way round do the disks go??

I believe you're correct.

The motion of the disc ensures that the air within the vanes is 'pumped' outwards, creating air flow from the center of the disc outwards.

If the vanes are the other way round, they'll be trying to draw air inwards and working aginst centrifugal force rather than with it.

I checked with my motorsport contact and he said that the outside slats make no difference it is the orientation of the vanes, and the airflow needs to be travelling from the centre of the disk to the outside when in forwards motion... this is the critical orientation..

and they are still overheating ?

There is something fishy with them...

They have not warped under heat this week, I've been driving gently at first, and putting more and more pressure on them. On the way home from the gym tonight I lit them up good and proper. The started a bit of warp towards the end of the drive when they became super (track level) hot, and as they were cooling down I could hear them cracking and moving. So I think I must have the bell and the disk setup wrongly.. some more room for expansion needed and the correct torque setting on the bolts.

I have some ferodo 3000 pads on there now, and compared to the crappy track ceramic pads from Rotora these things are like razors, so much bite.

so a bit more epxerimentation needed,

I have a rallly prep guy who owes me a favour and will try and get something set up from his side for another set of bells and disks too.

The energy that you can put in the car with 1.5 bar of T67 is so large that brake capacity is pretty important....

Mike it sounds like you do not have the disk/bell, torqued/shimmed correctly they should rattle around when trundling around town and be clearly audible when going over bumps etc, if they are not then they are acting like a bolted disc as opposed to a full floater and you will not get the best from them, until you get this soughted i would desist from roasting them otherwise you run the risk of wrecking the discs, the torque settings on mine were something like 8 nm so they are not tight at all with just a dab of threadlock to stop them loosening off

A friend of mine went down to the donnington time attack today, as our rally buddy was there working on a 200sx for a client. It was a good day apparently, he was wating the supras as well :)

Anywho, the guy inspecetd my 355 and said that the heat marking on them told him that they had been running way over temperature... stupidly hot.

..... Marham on slicks, so if I want to use them again we will have to sort something else. He has access to some ex works bigger disks so a new bell and bracket may be in order.

heavy old car the supra I guess.
