hodge Posted October 7, 2007 Share Posted October 7, 2007 I have done an engine change in my j-spec TT and since ive done this the o/d light flashes constantly. It never used to do this before I changed the engine so am wondering if I have dislodged or broke the speed signal sensor. But I dont know where it is. So could someone please point me in the right direction. I have done an ECU reset but the o/d light still comes on and flashes. Cheers in advance folks. Throttle position sensor on throttle body it's on the left hand side at the front of the throttle body when looking from the front. Normally showing fault codes 41 & 47 On mine this is what i have at to moment & waiting to cure it well annoying as i have slip controll light flashing & now loss manual mode on auto gearbox. PS any body know how to rectify these two codes listed above as it tells you what the problem is but not how to cure it ??? Do you just fit a new throttle position sensor in place of old one ??? Guest mugg Posted October 10, 2007 Share Posted October 10, 2007 Is your cruze control playing up also , the Speed sensor signal is run throught the ODO before it reachs the ecu which , ( if the odo solder joints are dry or cracked.....old.. ) can cause on/off fault with jdm auto spolier, Cruise Control, and Auto od and trip Fault code 42 . There is a wire splice fix or purchase an new odo ......If you search for ODO fix or fault code 42 you may find the solution . Reguarding fault code 41..47..If you have a Toyota SRM look at the section for setting the TPS and sub TPS it is a task that takes sum time and knowledge with a muliti meter to get it right ..... http://www.supraforums.com/forum/showthread.php?t=433076&highlight=Flashing Hope this may help...... Hmm. I don't know much about engine swaps, but I'm guessing that it may be something that wasn't connected or altered after the swap. Under normal circumstances, I wouldn't think that the O/D light can flash without a relevent error code being logged. I guess you've searched for error 31 and that it doesn't have anything to do with the O/D light. Sorry I haven't been more help. It may be worth asking those who have experience of engine swaps. So much for a simple error code run through..... Have you even looked at the posting detail ?? Could it seem fair that you have a flashing OD ..OR ...non Active MANU buttom ......Because the signal that the ECU and Auto ECU reads is either not there or diminished so that along with the factors of TPS / MAP / MAF / INJ Duty / ING Tim /ETC ETC ** Speed Sensor *** Is limiting its abilty to Be able to know exactly what gear it is truley in or clouding it enough to simply think that the deminished signal is related to OD and along with that a non Active Manu Button. I have a TT 6MT so its all a guess to me . Have you checked to find out where your Speed Sensor is on the Auto TT Mkiv .....And to first of all make sure it is attleast plugged in or visually damaged etc etc . Have you checked the wire connection , mounting and pressure source to your map sensor ....if you have code 31 . As in sum of the detail other codes fault can be a by product from what may be causing your OD Flash ...........Is the Auto shifting like it should ?? I can only try to help ...........but i have seen and read this problem many times and these are the common factors as i have tried to post for you to read . hodge Posted October 12, 2007 Author Share Posted October 12, 2007 TBH I dont think the auto is shifting properly at high revs but then again my turbos are just about fooked, but I am changing them on Monday so should get a better idea after that. I think someone said the speed sensor was on the gearbox so I will check that out also when the cars up in the air. Chould the ECU be faulty. Mike_Mac Posted October 12, 2007 Share Posted October 12, 2007 The speed sensor is mounted on the upper side of the gearbox closest to the car's underside and it's connection is quite fiddley to get to. i had a similar problem with poor connection after an engine swap, which caused the speedo to shoot all over the place. Look on top of the gearbox for a connector with three wires (red, Yellow and IIRC Red/Blue). This is the speed sensor's connector. Check that connection for damage, secure fastening etc. ODO - You would need to strip your upper dash, cut the ODO connector's re-transmitted speed signal and splice it onto the speed input wire instead. keron Posted April 23, 2012 Share Posted April 23, 2012 you will get this if the car has had a na-tt transplant as it recognises that there is no traction control etc. the od light will flash but will still work as normal. the manu light also does not show when pressing it too. the only way to get around this is by fitting tc and abs (if you dont have it already) as well as changing ALL of the wiring looms in the car...i mean all of them. whole car.... Mine is an na-tt swap car, not fussed about the flashing OD light more the lights that come on after a good run (speed sensor 42 related.)
