Carl_S
Where would you install your HID ballasts? I got some ideas as pictured below, but what is best? There are some self tapping screws included in the kit. They are meant to go through metal aren't they? I will get hold of some 3M double sided tape too. Carl 1) under front light, theres a screw already there i can use: http://img517.imageshack.us/img517/6282/12122007466uw6.jpg 2) Above FMIC pipe http://img517.imageshack.us/img517/2933/12122007467jc5.jpg 3) Resting against the FMIC http://img511.imageshack.us/img511/6788/12122007468jn0.jpg 4) Between the battery and the fusebox http://img411.imageshack.us/img411/8809/12122007469bt2.jpg Driver's side. 5) Horizontally on the inside of the drivers side wing http://img411.imageshack.us/img411/6818/12122007470ik8.jpg 6) Vertically on the inside of the drivers side wing http://img411.imageshack.us/img411/408/12122007471su6.jpg
bodilx6
Some of these I think is only available since you don't have the stock air box. I seems that the first two pictures are missing. Could you fix? My guess for the best placement would be close to the battery (for left side). Not sure about right side, but place it where there is the least chance of water getting to it (even though they should be "weather proof")
Thorin
Funnily enough I've just bought some HID's as one of my headlights went the other night. I was planning on placing them underneath the headlight units, I believe there's space?

carl0s
Yeah, you're lucky not having the stock airbox. I went for one next to the battery, and the other one, well there are some tapped holes in the side on the drivers side of the engine bay. The included bracket fitted there nicely and the ballast sat just fine. Actually, there are two holes. I had to drill a new hole in the bracket to line up with one of them. I think there are problems with under the headlights if you have the stock airbox, or active spoiler, or smic, or something I kept pictures luckily, 'cause I wrote that car off. : http://www.css-networks.com/ballast/1.JPG http://www.css-networks.com/ballast/2.JPG http://www.css-networks.com/ballast/3.JPG
boomstick
Mine are ON the intercooler... Nice square surface and easy access if you remove the "air pressureplate" thingy!
ukApache
mine are bolted to the underside of the headlights. had to move them there after i installed an active spoiler
Tricky-Ricky
Just put them anywhere they will fit, just avoid anywhere that will get them in contact with too much water.
Carl_S
Just put them anywhere they will fit, just avoid anywhere that will get them in contact with too much water. Thanks for giving me added options. I think I did ok, will get one of you knowlegable guys to look when I bring it to a meet or something (maybe the next reading one) the passenger side one I bolted to the chassis under the headlight, it rests on the FMIC pipe, and is just shy of one of the veilside bumper air intakes (the one where the indicator sits). The drives side one is resting (not screwed or taped) very snuggly on the sloping top side of the big greddy FMIC. Theres no where for it to go ones the headlight's in, so I didnt secure it. I will get round to doing it when I have some proper 3M double sided tape.
