Branners
Anybody know anything about the Citroen Xantia 2.0? Is it a good car? Whats the fuel consumption like? I have been offered one at a very good price and Im tempted to sell my Calibra and go for the Xantia as its cheaper to buy and has less miles, but I thought I would see if anybody on here has owned one before.. Supragal
Interesting. The identical twins I live with both drive xantias.... Whats the difference in mileage. Citroens are generally crap. They seem to be ok cars, pretty reliable (but then their dad is a citroen mechanic so he fixes them when they do go wrong) spacious, suspension makes passengers car sick often. I'll ask them about fuel etc when they return home...
dude
I know for an N reg Turbo Diesal Vectra , nice car with 90,000 guy wants £950 , doesnt seem expensive !!! Dude
Branners
The car I have been offered is an R reg 2.0 16v estate with 46,000 genuine miles on it (its my aunt thats selling it so I know its history), and all she wants is £1000 which seems a great price to me. The fuel consumption is the only worry, my calibra does about 32mpg, I dont think the Xantia is going to be that good. JB
Supragal
I think one of them is the 2.0 16v so I should be able to get an answer on that
RedSZ
True confessions time! I have had a 1.8 16V Xantia estate and a 2.0 8V hatch. Both did 30-35 mpg. Both mechanically reliable but probs with electrics common. Kids were never sick in them!
JamesC
I've bought a Zantia 1.9TD about a month ago to run me around in the winter. Only paid £550 for it - M reg with 62000 miles on. So far i've had to have a seal changed on the hydraulic pump and the two rear sphere's changed. Had all this done at a Citroen specialist and it cost £90 altogether. The ride on bad surfaces is very good now, very smoooth. It is an ugly car though. I heard about the electrical problems too, think it was supposed to be on the earlier cars. Supragal
Right, it's not great on petrol. Apparently he's never reset the trip meter when full before so he doesn't know how far it goes to a tank His has a leaky head gasket but it's running ok with it, he got it dirt cheap because of that. Generally a bit gremliny with electrics but it depends on how well it's been looked after as with every car. Sounds like a bargain to me given you know it's history... Branners
I have decided to go for it. If the car squeeked in an unusual way it was put in to Citroen to be checked out so its been seriously well cared for. Always garaged and never thrashed. So just got to sell my Calibra now. 2.0 16v Ecotec if anybody fancies it. JB
