i've won something off of ebay and when i go to pay it wont go through ebay/paypal usual lot. it directs me to a website where i then have to put my details in called channeladvisor.com. the seller has all good feedback and it looks fine, but there is no padlock in the bottom corner. instead there is an icon on the actual webpage saying "this site is secure" with a padlock pic. my firewall also wants to block the site...but i've already won the item, if i hadnt i would walk away...

advice?

This is taken from the ebay site.....

Off eBay & Grey Market Transactions

Always remember to complete your transaction on the eBay website - it's the safer way to trade with others. eBay's rules prohibit use of our system to solicit others to buy or sell items "off eBay." We strongly advise recipients of these email solicitations to report the senders to eBay Customer Support. Participants in "off eBay" transactions aren't able to use eBay feedback or buyer protection programmes if a problem arises. Learn more

well the website gives me a paypal option. i've emailed him about it.

It sounds like the paypal cart has been woven into his own site. I have a similar option when people buy from me. It is usually used by people with very large numbers of eBay sales (businesses etc) which link the paypal payments to their own invoice systems etc. If his feedback is very high then this adds more weight to it.

One option is to try it, and even if it logs you into paypal (or even if it doesn't) just change your password.

I wouldn't worry to much about this - Channel Advisor are a legit company and many ebay sellers use them. I was at the last eBay University (yes, ok I know!) and they were there signing people up. I've actually spoken to them a few times on the phone.

Basically if you are a seller they just make it wasier for you to sell through different channels..... hence the name.

Like someone else said, you could just contact the seller and say that you are a little unfamiliar with this and ask them if you can pay directly via paypal.
