Guest Stef
Today , I washed my car. I washed it underneath the bonnet (the engine bay) as well, but not on high pressure. Took it out for a spin then, and nothing funny occured. Did a small burnout, but nothing spectacular (all on a warm engine). The car drove like a dream as always. I parked it in front of my door, and that was it. I just started the car again, as I needed to go to a party, and all of the suddent the car is shaking, the exhaust is making puffs non-stop, and when I floor the gas the car is shaking a lot, and it gives you the feeling it doesn't want to drive anymore. No engine management control lights went on, but the exhaust doesn't sound right, and it seems there is a bit of a smell (can't place it, could be the normal gas-burning exhaust fume). Could this be the spark plugs, or something else? If wanted, I could upload a small movie so it's possible to see
JustGav
Water down the spark plug gulley, will put money on it. You will probably need to either to get an airline and blow the water out, or take off the intake manifold, and all the bits underneath to dry the water out properly. tooquicktostop
Did you use a hose pipe or the pressure washer on low power under the bonnet, if so you may have an issue as it is a big no no, you may have water sitting in the spark plug area, if you know what you are doing take it apart and dry everything off, if you dont take it to a garage and get them to sort it Someone may respond with exactly what else to check, coil pack etc
Guest Stef
Okay, with this information I have contacted a friend, he is coming over right now, so he is going to look for that at first (he is a lot more technical than i'll ever be ). Is is possible to have an hair dryer get all the water out? With warm or cold air? (he'll probably know, but then again )

Supra Pilot
Start, run or drive the car a bit... it would soon get hot enough and evaporate all stray water! (Unless of course you gave it a mega good soaking!)
Lebsteif
Take off the heatshield at the exhaust manifold, check the bolts of the exhaust manifold which connects the rest of the exhaust downpipe (the Y part) start the engine and check the same spot once more for leaking. Guest Stef
I dont run turbo's, so I guess I don't have a downpipe My friend took off the entire intake manifold, and we learned 3 things: 2jz-ge sucks for sparkplug checking the 6th spark plug was wet all 6 plugs need replacement All had gaps of approx 2mm, so I'm gonna get 6 new Denso Iridiums. In the meanwhile we kept everything off, I won't be running the car anymore until the new spark plugs are fitted. Thanks for the help!
Guest Stef
Ok, we have changed the plugs (correction, my friend changed the plugs) but it still seems to be misfiring, as you can see in the video: Any idea's on what this can be? It revs normal, but it sounds like it is misfiring a lot of the time, but not quite yet always... Thanks!
Tricky-Ricky
The first bit of the video seem OK, but the second sounds more like you have a knock?
JustGav
You don't need to take the whole manifold off, if you undo the right bolts you can take off just the bits above the plugs. Did you dry out the gulley properly. It does seriously sound like something is knocking badly though.
Guest Stef
Hmm, we decided to drive it to my friends garage (heated, oh my!), so I drove pretty carefully. Never above 3000 rpm's, until I hit an 50mph road, here the car was feeling a lot better, and wasn't misfiring anymore. So I decided to test it, and it seems to work quite nice again, response is even better than before! Thanks for the help, it has been very usefull
