Help need ideas on bad noise.

Driving on the motorway I hit a shed load of surface water as I slowed down for the sliproad, this made the whole car vibrate under my seat and the exhaust sound like it had fell off. The engine still revved ok and smooth.

What I cant fathom out is that the exhaust seems perfect, no cracks or joints leaking to the 1st cat and all is secure. The undertray is also secure with no boost hose leaks.

This happens everytime I hit water and is much worse when I lift off the throttle.

The system is stainless, centre decat is mild steel and the 1st cat is in but not sure what condition its in, is it also Stainless?

All suggestions appreciated because I'm stumped and fed up looking under the car to find nothing wrong.:(

Oh and this just seemed to happen after installing the centre decat.

I have mate yeah, theres no tell tale blackness around the joints with gaskets looking intact and I cant feel anything with the motor running.

What I did notice was the centr decat is less than a fingers width from the floor at one point and there's a scuffed / burnt bit of underseal at this point.

I really cant imagine this contact causing so much noise through the car but hey you never know.

On top of that could the differing exhaust materials be contracting awkward with the sudden cooling forcing this decat to hit the floor?

The other thing to check is that it is hanging properly, if it got pushed up with the force of the water, it could have come off the hanger slightly and that would be putting strain on the joints.

From what I seen under there tonight it looks fine and the two hangers, one middle one rear look fine. There isn't too much play either mean you can move it around slightly but is bounces back into position.

Really is strange usually exhaust problems are obvious.:(
