white dials

hiya guys ive just recieved my white visual performance dials and ive swapped them over and now all i have to do i wire them up and i was hoping to tap into the clock or cigarette lighter power supply, i only have two wires with the kit one is red and the other is black, and the instruction say i need to put the red to a live connection and the black to a earth or neutral point, but which is the live on the clock power cables??? i assume the earth can be a connection to the bodywork i.e under a bolt holding down the shifter or something ( might be wrong),

I used the light for the ashtray because it's a lot easier to get to and mess with than the clock or lighter.

 

IIRC the positive is green and orange and the negative is white and black. If you've got access to a multimeter it's easy to check.
