cheap intercoolers

i know this is a source for some arguement but I'm after a cheap FMIC. The one I have at the moment is quite bizaare with the pipework doublebacking to go to the original side mount locations.

With this in mind I have looked at different coolers and have been looking at the end tank design. It was this part that seems to have caused the biggest concern on previous threads. You can by cheap skyline intercoolers and the end tanks look like they would flow quite well. I know this isn't very scientific but what are your opinions? Has anyone fitted a skyline intercooler before? How do you think the ones in the pictures compare to each other? Many thanks to all

Well I picked up a generic intercooler (made sure the dimensions were the same as supra ones) and the problem I have found is all the little things that say the HKS kit has (overflow bottle, PS pipes) makes the job 10000x easier.

i've just been working out the cost of the piping, it would probably be a couple of hundred quid after the silicon hosing, etc..!

Skylines have a load of room for proper end tank design and piping runs, Supras, given that most buyers think bigger is better, have problems because of the height of the front chassis rails and the width between them accommodating a wide I/C with proper end tanks. Most are appalling, especially the cheap ones. Unless you can bend and swage big diameter ally pipe, or can fabricate bends from sections 9good with a TIG?), then forget it, you will spend more getting it all working, if indeed it's even possible.
