Petrol Strike

If there really was a large majority of people in the country who objected to current fuel tax, surely they would happily be demonstrating by just not buying petrol, regardless of whether there's a blockade or not?

Not really, all that would happen then is the government would come out and say "Look, we've reduced polution like we said we would, that's the only reason we've been increasing fuel costs you know!".

Blockades aren't meant to show that the people involved aren't buying fuel on principle, it's a threat; reduce fuel or we'll bring 'your' country to it's knees!

odd, sounds like stealing to me, lol.

IT IS stealing, the government are meant to our bidding within reason whilst having our best interests at heart, ok some times we won't agree with they're polices( pills which are hard to swallow but can be benificial) but this is just daylight robbery.

Totally agree with the blockade hope its a long one, as it has to hurt to have any chance of being effective.

There's just one small problem - fuel protests count as terrorism under labours spanky new anti-terrorism bill, so everyone involved can be arrested without charge for the rest of eternity...

Please someone enlighten me as to why we STILL have labour running this fucking country!

This kind of action doesn't just affect us as consumers, it also causes businesses to grind to a halt, which affects sales, which affects tax, which hits the government where it really hurts.

It only started to affect us when the couriers couldn't supply to us.
