supra steveo Posted December 4, 2007 Share Posted December 4, 2007 wife sent a seller a cheque and now after the auction the seller is no longer registered with ebay, ive sent him or her an email asking if they got the cheque because the wife has just said she cant remember putting a stamp on the envelope so looking for advice before cancelling the cheque, i think ive done all i can, if they don't answer in 24 hrs i am cancelling the cheque i think the wife is saying HSBC charge £10 for cancellations , that cant be right can it ? Steve, ring HSBC up and say you can't find cheque number xyz they will cancel it free (i.e. wife left it on a bus/chance of fraud etc). If you state that you simply want to cancel it because of eBay etc they will charge £7.50 (ex hsbc employee). With regard to the seller, he may cash the cheque as you can't realy chase him for anything since eBay are no longer involved.
