Chris Wilson
In order to be sure take the back cover off the diff and physically check, IMHO.
louisjames
why not just jack up one side and turn one wheel. if its lsd it will lock after few inchs if not it will turn freely .
Suprash
My old 94 N/A had an LSD, I thought they were standard on the SZ-R models and thats what the R specified.......?

stevie_b
I've got an LSD on my '94 non-facelift NA. Mine's an SZ, not an SZ-R.
Thorin
why not just jack up one side and turn one wheel. if its lsd it will lock after few inchs if not it will turn freely . That trick doesn't work on a Torsen LSD.
Chris Wilson
That trick doesn't work on a Torsen LSD. Indeed, just drop the diff and pull the rear cover, then you will know. the Torsen type Toyota diff is so lightly loaded as to be hardly any better than a stock open diff. You need something like the TRD plate type kit to give any worthwhile amount of LSD action, IMO. Plate types are not favoured for OE as they can be noisy and do wear fairly quickly. Matt H
so what sort do we have then A torque active (clutch type) LDS which senses the amount of load OR the electronically controlled slip diff which uses the anti lock brake sensor to monitor independent wheel speed where you pissed the last night when you posted up about the dials as that post seems a million miles away from this one you have posted

Homer
How would I know if I have abs with out having to slamming the brakes on is there something too look for under the bonnet Have a look for the bit circled in red in the pic, it's the ABS pump. If it isn't there, you don't have ABS.
supradriver
I have just been and had a look and I don’t have a pump so I guess I don’t have ABS o well lol. That’s strange I have a torsen LSD but no ABS hmmmm

That’s strange I have a torsen LSD but no ABS hmmmm It's not really that strange, they were options on the NA so the owners just ticks what boxes they want when ordering the car (same as choosing colour, etc) Obviously drivability was more import to the original owner than safety!
