Thats a Torsen diff, they were available from 93 cars onwards as optional equipment on the SZ and were standard on the SZ-R (94 onwards). Yours is an SZ so the original buyer must have specified it, pretty rare TBH.

Edit - Just realised Scooter already said that. oh well!

so what sort do we have then

A torque active (clutch type) LDS which senses the amount of load OR the electronically controlled slip diff which uses the anti lock brake sensor to monitor independent wheel speed

I'm almost certain there isn't an electronically controlled LSD available on the MKIV Supra.

The only different stock LSD is the facelift one which uses a different type of gear mechanism.

You answered your own question. Torque Active would mean "Torque Sensing", which is what Torsen is short for.

so looks like iv got a rare N/A lol :eyebrows:

Not really, it's a rare option, the car itself is not rare ;)

It's a Torsen LSD, so still not that great compared to modern ones. I've never been very impressed with the stock LSD the Supra's come with. I have yet to drive one with a (proper) clutch type diff but imagine it's a huge improvement.

Well, as nearly all NAs (inc yours judging from you engine bay pic in your garage) don't have ABS. . .
