Vaughany
Hi everyone, I hope you have all had a good Xmas. I am hoping someone could answer the following question I have recently had a Profec E01 fitted aswell as an EManage. I am still waiting for the emange to be set up but I have been setting up the Boost Controller myself. On the low setting it is set at the following Low - Manual Set -49% Gain - 7 Start to - ? This currently allows the car to boost at 1.2 Bar and boost spikes at just over 1.3bar for a second or so (outside temperature depending). My question is 1) Should I drop the gain a touch to lower the boost spike? 2) what setting should I set the start boost at? I was thinking to set this at about 0.6 of a bar, what does everyone think? The Soop is a J-Spec running stock Turbos with full decat etc with a restrictor ring. Thanks

Alex
1) I'd leave it alone 1.3bar for a sec will be ok ish 2) If you're asking what you should lower your boost to on the first setting then I'm afraid you'll be disappointed...EBC's cannot lower boost, they basically delay the opening of the wastegate to give you more boost. If that's not what you mean I don't understand what you're asking.
Vaughany
Hi Alex Thanks for your advice on question 1, with regards to question 2. By all accounts the Profec E01 has a function where you can keep the wastegate shut until a certain boost pressure to improve spool up. This function is known as the start boost, they recommend that this should be be set no less than 2.8psi under the set boost (Currently I am running about 18psi approx, 1.2bar) On their recommendation I could set the start boost at a maximum of 12psi approx (1 bar) I have this currently set at zero which is the stock level. I was going to set it at about 0.6 bar which is about 9psi which is well within their recommendation. I was wandering what everyone else with the Profec E01 has set theirs at. SimonB
I have mine set to:- set 57 gain 35 start 0.9 (BAR) I have the warning feature set up to reduce the duty cycle when it hits 1.3BAR, this effectively stops it boosting above that. To do that I have the warning level set to 1.3BAR and the reduction set to -50%. With the controller off, my restrictor restricts boost to about 1 BAR. Vaughany
Thanks Alex I never thought about reducing the Duty Rate, just out of interest does this stop the boost spike? I have the gain set so low because anything more than 7 and I am spiking at over 1.3bar. If I set the Duty Rate to reduce once I hit 1.3 bar, can I set the gain higher for a quicker spool up? How does the car drive with the gain at 0.9 bar? is there alot of difference from this compared with the stock setting, if so what are they, does the car respond much quicker? Cheers

Anyhoo, the start thingy only makes a difference once the 2nd turbo has come in (as before then the wastegate isn't doing anything anyway). I don't think it makes much difference tbh, maybe it helps get full boost a bit sooner. I haven't really played around with it much - I might turn it up a bit and see what effect it has. Best thing to do is set your warning thing to reduce boost at 1.2 or 1.3BAR say, then at least you can't go too badly wrong. Then use the record facility to record a few runs at different settings and play back the results in graph mode and step through- you can see the boost curve that you get then and what effect the set and gain values have.
