Next time you shop at Tesco...

I don't get the story, there's a rule that states you can't park for more than 3 hours, they broke that rule (for whatever reason), they were lucky they didn't get clamped and charged a release fee IMO, good on Tesco for simply sending them a letter telling them of the time limit!

I'm with Trev on this one.

By the sounds of it, they went in a "normal" car that would not have shown them to be disabled. Also, how would Tesco know that they weren't just trying it on, parking for free and shopping elsewhere?

Why do Tesco stores even have car-parks? From the look of the people that shop there I'd be amazed if they can afford cars.

You're right. When I shopped there whilst living at Abingdon I could not afford to run a car. Hell, even after selling my Supra I still could not afford to run even a diesel car

Tesco obviously treat their customers as they treat their stock - just another item. It does seem an excessivlely long time but having been friends with a severly disabled person, outings and shopping trips can be an absolute nightmare and extremely tiring.

The most disgraceful thing here is the total inflexibility of Tesco once they were aware of the circumstances.

Typical press because they are disabled it is unfair. They broke the rules.

Besides where did they get the money to spend in the first place? I would be questioning them further on their income. I would have said check the attic for a marijuana farm but by the looks of them none of them will be able to climb the stairs. :D

From the pic it's a tiny car park that must get hassle with people leaving their cars.

Its mahooooooosuve, fit a good few footie pitches on there, i was in there only the other day.

Its pure media manipulation though... as far as tesco were aware its someone parking up and going else where - end of the day its their property and you should be using it to shop with them - and when was the last time you took more than 3 hours to shop?!

Mind, they are becomeing like small "malls" so they might encounter people living in them soon enough!

I went into Tescos today in Banbury to buy 3 items.

They have a new mezzanine section that sells clothes, tech goods, CDs and DVDs. I waited 20mins in a queue to pay for the three items because anything you select upstairs has to be paid for there and they had on spotty school leaver and a menopausal woman who didn't know what she was doing working the tills/customer service area. After paying for the goods, I went back to the ground floor to leave and set the alarm off because spotty oik hadn't removed the security tag and spent another 20 mins queuing at customer services to have the tag removed.

45mins of my life wasted to buy 3 sodding items.

I used to shop there all the time until about 3 years ago when we switched to Jamie Olivers mob(Sainsbugs) 'cos he's pukka and good looking in a chubby essex boy kind of way,:D and because they have better customer service, their fresh produce lasts longer and because they're a bit more expensive it remains a largely chav free zone. :D

I remember reading an article about Tesco a couple years back in the paper.

Tesco had some kids books for sale with the Tesco price sticker on the front saying £3.99. Underneath however you could make out an Asda price sticker for £1.99.

Apparently the book supplier was responsible for putting the stickers on. When sending the books (originally meant for Asda) to Tesco, they just stuck the Tesco stickers over the top.

Just goes to show how much Tesco rip you off! IMO you can't beat Asda.

Pretty much why we only shop there. Good call.

I went to my local Tesco’s two weeks ago only to find a massive speed hump on the way in, dint notice it as it was night time and it was only put there that day, it wasn’t finished and it had a big dip on the way up and down it scraped the front middle and back of the car, went to the customer services to complain and told them I wouldn’t be able to get out, a guy from customer services and the manager spent 40 minutes with me sat in front of the one on the way out, not moving until they found a way of getting me over it, the people queuing behind me were in the shop for a long time that evening

Although I started this thread, I must admit that the only time I ever visit Tesco is 'cos it's the nearest place to get TG magazine.

For everything else, there's the missus. (I just don't trust her to get the right mag.) ;)

I can't stand the place - and I used to be the local Tesco store manager back in my dim and distant past. :(
