Boost control problems HELP!

SIMON LC

Recommended Posts

Ok just fitted Greddy boost controller and I think its knackered.I set boost control limit at 100% and then 0% and there is absolutly no difference in the boost as I can watch it on my boost guage.I have changed these settings on hi and lo channels and still no difference, would I be right in assuming the solenoid control valve is broken? Just one extra thing but dont think will make any difference,I have T pieced the vacum pipe on my boost guage to feed the vacum pipe for the read out on the controller, would this make any difference?

I shall atempt to make that sound clearer. The pipe from VSV to the actuator (that plugs onto the end of actuator)I have cut in half and plugged both ends. The pipe that exits from the side of the actuator I have taken to the "COM" on the control solenoid. The other end of this pipe that went to the turbo now goes to the "ON" of the solenoid control valve.Does this sound right and does the VSV remain plugged in to the electrical plug connector?

Any news Jim?

yes mate sorry......after testing actuator, wires ect found the problem to be the controller unit....no output at all!

luckily mines still in warranty!

As for the plumbing, that diagram is correct as mine worked fine in that config before the boost dropped back to standard.

Is yours new or second hand?

Yes mate its a Flea Bay job I had my suspicions of the solenoid control unit because its looks a bit rough and abused. How did you check the output to it.When you adjust the boost at the controller, are you supposed to hear a tumble type valve or something move in the soleniod control unit?

First check the solenoid, blow through it and connect 12V supply accross it, should click loudly and divert/stop air flow.

Next check continuity of wires from controller to solenoid, bridge on end with paper clip so you can test easily at one end.

Then test output by setting controller to a low setting, connect multimeter to output pins and then apply air pressure to controller (i used an air compressor set to 1.5bar) then check meter.

I could hear my conrtoller bleeping to warn of overboost but no output voltage so im assuming the controller is at fault!:)

I may be wrong tho....it has been known;)
