Have had my Xbox premium and it has't given me any issues. Reliability will be the same for all three versions of the console.

As for Xboxes being on their 'way out'.... I wouldn't say they were at all, in fact the games on them are getting better all the time.

Problem with the PS3 is that it doesn't have a good lineup of games at the moment. Give it a year or two and it'll be the same as the 360.

Difference between the Elite and the Premium is HDMI compatibility and a larger hard drive. Don't bother with the core, you'll end up spending more money buying the hard drive and other bits seperately when you need them (and you will).

No problems (touch wood) with my 360 so far, had it well over a year. The only thing I wish it had was the hdmi socket, but I use component so no big whoop.

The best console to have is not the better spec'd machine, it's the machine with the best games. IMO the 360 has the PS3 beat hands down on this front, although this could well change as better PS3 games are released over time.

I've heard that the PS3 has far more potential than the 360. Afterall, it's been about 7 years since the PS2 was released. Microsoft waited what, a week, maybe two between the Xbox and the 360. No surprises really on the issue front! I'd love a PS3, I can't justify the cost at the moment though :(

  • 3 weeks later...

I got a 360 Elite from game for Xmas. It came with Foza 2, Viva Pinata and gears of war. You could have it with FIFA instead of gears of war if you wanted. It was £329.99.

Oh it came with an extra wireless controller too (although it's white)

I got that one as I wanted the HD lead and the optical out lead which are included with the elite. These would have cost about £45 anyway, if I had bought the premium. So for about £5-10 extra I now have the black console (matches TV,DVD etc.) and I also have the 120gb hard drive.

PS3 If I had to return anything that had burned out in less than a year. I would just get the refund.

Ffs you can pick up £20 dvd players that last longer than that.

I think all these problems seemed to have been ironed out now, and Microsoft are still giving you the 3 year warranty just in case.

dude, i wouldnt touch the core or premium. they have serious reliability issues!

it will be in for repairs every few months.

my brother is on his 4th, im on my second, my cousins are on their 3rd and 4th!!!

one of them just binned it and bought an elite.

all due to either the red light problem or just not being able to read discs anymore.

i havent heard any problems with the elite yet.

still i would rather have the 360 then the ps3

11 machines. One family. Cool reliability record... I hope MS have sorted it because a lot of game writers have invested heavily in the console.

was just searching for xbox 360s too and found the same deal £50 less here:

http://www.game.co.uk/Xbox360/Hardware/HardwareBundle/~r333213/Xbox-360-Premium-with-Forza-2-Viva-Pinata-Extra-Wireless-Controller/

gonna go into game later on and pick one up i think :D

That package doesn't have Halo though, thats why its cheaper. Get yourself Gears of War maz, and get them to do you a deal on the price of it.
