I used to be quite a big lad (17st), lost 4 stone then put most of it back on after getting married (typical!!).

However for the last 3 months I have been cycling into work every day (approx 25 miles/day), and the weight has dropped off :D

Also weight train twice a week.

I love everybody who's supra'd up :grouphug: erm....not physically though!!

I get hacked off with people saying 'I dont have time' then they go home and spend 3 hours on their PS2/XBox/wii etc

........or to an 'eat-as-much-as-you-can-without-puking' buffet for 2 hours

Its surprising what staying off the junkfood, using a pullup (chinup) bar and the odd jog or cycling& , dinking plenty of water can do. None of it very time consumming, and when done every day works a treat.

Just think, if you put a chin up bar on the doorframe of your study, everytime you go in or out to check this web site, you do as many pull ups as you can, after 6 months you'll should have built some decent muscle. Pull you legs up as you do them and it flattens the gut too. Portable door frame bars are about £15. Jogging is the price of a decent pair of "gutties", so there is no excuse. You dont need that curry chip after being to the boozer lol.

The gymn can be addictive.. I can't get enough of it at the moment... I guess its the way it makes u feel.. I wouldnt like to stop going though... Its part of my day now... Good social scene as well

I do martial arts, although only once a week so I'm hardly Bruce Lee. I either run or go to the gym, also once a week.

I do like the gym but I don't find it sociable. Everyone's plugged into their iPods and in their own little world. Or maybe I scare people off.....

I'm a born again runner :) I used to stay thin by not eating much and being lucky on the metabolism front I guess, but then I noticed I was plumping out a bit while sat at my desk at work.

I started running to do something about it (I despised fat blokes at work who would bang on about doing the atkins diet or joining a gym or whatever and would say how much weight they intended to lose and then go twice or fall off the diet within a week - pathetic. So I knew I had to do something I'd stick at :D ). Life for me went through a bit of turmoil at that juncture and to cut a long story short I got knocked back to square one or even square -1 about 18 months ago, it was an effort to walk 10 minutes! However my attitude had changed as well, I was going to damn well sort myself out and get fit so I enjoy life more and for longer

So on Sunday I run my first half marathon race :D :nana: :scare: I'm dreaded and anticipating it all at once haha Damn hard work getting to this point but so worth it.

Being fit rocks, although I had to buy all new shirts, as doing some weights bulked up my chest and shoulders to the point my clothes were so tight that they looked completely gay.

Good on you for getting back on the wagon, and especially the half marathon.

I've done a bit of running in the past (casual, not competitive). I'm just concerned about what it does to your knees, but I'd love the camaraderie of race day. I might look into shorter distances, fun runs etc.

Its just amazing how many FAT people talk about going to the gymn whilst eating there turb of lard which normally is burger and chips or multiple mars bars...

This like you Ian what annoys me most.... People who are obviously fat can't understand why they are and won't do anything about it apart from complain and keep eating..... Unfort we as a civilisation in the UK are getting fatter and fatter by the year..... :(

I've always liked sports but when i got married I just stopped. However over the last year I've gone cycling usually once a week and have recently started playing squash a couple times a week. I hate the gym with a passion, tried it and found it so pointless. If I'm going to be active I want to be able to win at whatever I'm playing.

Although squash has its down sides, I got a high velocity ball into the eye last night - I still managed to beat Keith though ;)

Ian - good luck in the half marathon!

It's not just the "I'm not fat" issue though, it's how you feel about yourself in general, if you regularly do some serious exercise you feel fantastic, alert, full of energy, and are really f'king annoying to be around because of it, that sort of thing :D

Well, that's how you feel *after* the slog haha.

Two or more days afterwards if it was a long run  :D

And no, no pics of me wearing tight shirts for the love of god

I can't believe no-one else picked up on this ;)

Have to agree.. Especially if you have a long slog in the office.. The last thing i want is to go straight home.. I need the gymn to make me feel allive and well... It gives u allot more energy in the day and at night..... Its surely so important for our own well being.....

Even if its just going out running cycling etc.. Our body's require exercise to keep them beautiful :D
